There is a lot packed into this week's pages. LTMA announced no rate hikes for 2021. Boy Scout Troop 375, Ligonier PA celebrated their last Eagle Scout who built an outdoor classroom for the Loyalhanna Watershed Association. And much more!

Congratulations Christian in successfully completing your journey to Eagle Scout. The path to Eagle is an arduous and challenging one testing the youth’s character in many dimensions. Christian’s project was the construction of an outdoor classroom at the Loyalhanna Watershed property next to the office on the hill over looking the watershed wetlands and Ligonier Market grounds. Christian struggled through the unique challenges of COVID-19 restrictions as well our Troop’s dwindling roster in our final year of operation. So it is bittersweet that I share this announcement of his success and the final Eagle Scout from Troop #375 until another group picks up the Troop’s mantle in Scouting.

NOTE: Masks were only briefly removed for the photo and were otherwise worn thoughout our Eagle Board of Review.

It saddens me as a former Scout, former Scouting parent and current Scout leader as Committee Chair for a Scout Troop & Venture Crew to see this headline. Being involved in Scouting for over the past ten years, I have seen firsthand how seriously my local Scout Council has taken this situation and responded to keep youth safe as they enjoy and benefit from all Scouting has to offer.

My son has benefited tremendously from Scouting as he has grown from a Bobcat to an Scout Camp Counselor and an Eagle Scout with over half a dozen Eagle Palms, becoming a Scout Leader in his own right as an Assistant Scout Master in our Troop. Scouting has enabled him to develop leadership skills that I see him apply on a regular basis in his life today.

It my sincere hope that all sexual abuse victims have the opportunity to not only receive any compensation they are owed but to have the opportunity to receive the treatment that can help them heal their wounds.

The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy, according to a court document filed in Delaware bankruptcy court early Tuesday.

Congratulations to Eagle Scout Dominic Vigliotti of Troop 375 & Crew 301 for being recognized with the Adult Chuck King award this week at Camp Conestoga. My son Eagle Scout Nathan Andrews was recognized in 2018 with the Youth Chuck King award. Two amazing young men I have had the privilege of watching grow and mature from little boys into adulthood as two upstanding young gentlemen. ⚜️

Fish without a license!!

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will offer its first of two Fish-For-Free Days on Sunday, when anyone can fish, even without a state fishing license. The second free fishing day will be July 4. The commission is offering the free days to open up fishing opportunities for the public,
