Hey Gaston!

Sowing Minds now has a location to meet with your struggling student thanks to the generosity of Disciples United. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we have space at their chapel - either for one-on-one educational therapy or for a class of 2-6 students if you are finding a particular class challenging to teach this year.

I learned that Wendell Berry died on Monday, aged 92.

Wendell has had a tremendous impact upon my thinking regarding our modern world, the desirable life, and as the title of the book this quote comes from: what people are for.

Indeed, this world is full of teachers - some excellent, some worthy of avoidance. Yet, in our day of endless quick answers (through individually tailored search engines, infinite surface level reels, and AI) to deliver us from cogitation - what is really needed are students.

Students willing to challenge their mental abilities and not instinctually divert to shortcuts, students who want to be independent in their thinking and not reliant upon answers fed to them, students who value the fruit that comes from seemingly old world skills, students who know that the life-enriching work of a student does not stop when the diploma is earned.

We are honored to announce that we have been reaccredited by the International Dyslexia Association at the Accreditation Plus level.

This designation confirms that our training aligns with the science of reading, structured literacy, and IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. It caps off a yearlong review process and reflects the sustained commitment of our faculty and staff to evidence-based practice.

We congratulate every Educational Therapist trained through this program, along with our incredible team, and we thank IDA for their continued partnership in advancing literacy instruction.

Following the steps of generations, children resume their education journey this month.

For some, it’s an exciting time as new challenges await and the road ahead is greeted with anticipation and excitement. For others, summer passed by too quickly and the old foe is ready for battle again.

Perhaps you greet the new school year with a little tightness in your heart, a cloud hanging over your thought that “maybe this year will be different,” and you’re struggling to come up with more ways to encourage little hands to stay on the plow for one more year.

Though these years are short in relation to life, if you have a student who struggles tremendously, the school year can feel unending and unrelenting.

It is never too late to change course.

This year can be different.

Sowing Minds is here to help your family. I can meet your child where they are and begin to repair those learning foundations to bring about an independent learner - eager, confident, and hopeful again.

Give me a call at 803-239-9030 and let’s set a better path for this year.

Curious about homeschooling but feeling overwhelmed by the details and where to even begin? Check out my friends at Anyone Can Homeschool!

Would it help if I could talk you through this homeschooling thing?

Can I be honest with you?

Most of the moms I talk to aren't stuck because they can't homeschool. They're stuck because they don't have anyone to actually talk to about it. No mentor. No mom friend who's done this.

Just Google and a bunch of anxiety at 11pm.

I don't want that for you...so let's talk about it!

Click the link below and book a Free, 15 minute call video with me today.

No pressure. Tell me what's on your mind and let's figure out your next step together.

It's free and it could be that ONE thing that helps you confidently move forward!

"Recent research has found that, compared with traditional models, LLM-based tutoring systems produce less accurate, less stable, and less reliable estimates of student mastery. More broadly, systematic reviews have found little evidence that LLM-powered tutors outperform older intelligent tutoring systems.

Perhaps more importantly, AI introduces an entirely new challenge: inconsistency."

Educational Therapy powerfully addresses many different learning disorders by repairing the learning foundation.

No matter where your child may be - whether that is a new diagnosis or “we have tried so many things,” I can help.

✨ Every milestone matters.

Sometimes, the biggest victories aren't measured by grades—they're measured by confidence, connection, and belonging.

These words remind us why educational therapy matters. 💙

When we strengthen the underlying cognitive skills, we help students build the tools they need to thrive—not just in the classroom, but in everyday life.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow in confidence and discover their potential. 🌟
