This designation confirms that our training aligns with the science of reading, structured literacy, and IDA's Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. It caps off a yearlong review process and reflects the sustained commitment of our faculty and staff to evidence-based practice.

Following the steps of generations, children resume their education journey this month.

For some, it’s an exciting time as new challenges await and the road ahead is greeted with anticipation and excitement. For others, summer passed by too quickly and the old foe is ready for battle again.

Perhaps you greet the new school year with a little tightness in your heart, a cloud hanging over your thought that “maybe this year will be different,” and you’re struggling to come up with more ways to encourage little hands to stay on the plow for one more year.

Though these years are short in relation to life, if you have a student who struggles tremendously, the school year can feel unending and unrelenting.

They may have the worst SC Ready scores in the Midlands. These are heartbreakingly low and evidence nothing short of educational malpractice.

Time to look at Lexington 1. Last year’s SC Ready scores are interesting here because there is a very specific area that needs to be addressed.
