6 babies hatched today and I was finally home to witness it happening.

We’re doing things a bit different this year. We’ll provide the picking buckets, you bring your own containers for your picked berries. Berries are by donation this year, we are not doing pint or gallon prices. We’ve made these changes for a number of reasons, weather being the big one. Late frost and lack of rain has changed the harvest time and quantity of berries on the bushes. We are going to continue with the appointments for picking as that worked well for us last year. We are no longer having “open” hours. We appreciate your business and understanding. PM to book appointments.

The blueberries are almost ready for pickers. The lack of rain and that late frost has pushed back the harvest. By now, we’re usually well on the way to buckets of berries. The Pink Lemonades seem to be doing better, and that’s a fan favorite. We’ll post when we’re ready for U-Pickers.

We’re really digging the fact that Corwin, the youngest of our brood, is taking welding in school. A long awaited and over due project is underway thanks to this kids skills. While I’m excited to try and smoke our own pigs we raise, I’m really looking forward to creating some art and garden bling from junk.

That last frost got some of our berry bushes but we’re still gonna have plenty for U-Pickers. Will update our farm page as we get closer to being ready for picking.

The projects here never seem to end. Not really “farm” related, but expanding the deck will add to our relaxing experiences which are a Must.

Theres been a lot happening on the homestead lately and it’s been awhile, so let’s catch up. One of our ducks successfully hatched a chicken today. Hoping for more variety soon, will keep you posted. We have guests that arrived from Vermont. Our farm is serving as their transitional home and camper landing, they’re nestled in by the last of the fire wood. Spring has arrived, the fruit trees are blossoming and berries are all budding. An unnecessary but welcome reminder that we’re a tad behind schedule on our winter tasks. And a wet winter it was, with lots of mud and grumbling. We’ve begun the shift to another season by the arrival of composted soil and mowing the lawn. We ordered an extra cubic yard this season with optimistic visions of more gardens. (We’ll see how that plays out) 🐣

Farm animals are so impatient when it’s close to feeding time.

We have a new addition to our farm, straight from Texas. The ducks circled it for about 20 minutes, assessing. Thanks to our niece Becky for this gift, at least it’s a mouth we don’t have to feed.

The barn cats have their own cozy space that we’ve always referred to as the Cat Castle. With their own kitty door, they come and go as they please. One chicken has discovered the cat door, made a nest under the table, and lays one egg a day in there. She doesn’t eat the cat food and the cats don’t seem to mind her invading their space. Everyday, a pretty green egg is collected.
