Math in Motion at Brooks Elementary! 📝➕
Staff at Brooks Elementary School recently explored the Effective Math Teaching Practices through a fun, collaborative activity led by Principal Betty Jo Davis (one of our Cohort 1 partiicpants). Teams placed teacher and student moves on a continuum from more traditional approaches to more student-centered practices, then "Passed the Shifts" to gather and discuss additional moves. Great conversations, deeper thinking, and a shared vision for student-centered learning! Great to see the work of the PNCA2 in action across Kentucky.
Teams explored how instructional moves shift from teacher-directed to student-centered, sparking rich conversations about creating classrooms where students do the thinking, reasoning, and learning.
