So proud of Jess Alfreds and to be a part of CKC!

We’re so excited to share that our very own CKC founder, Jess Alfreds, will be speaking at the 2026 Emerging School Models Conference at Harvard Kennedy School on September 17–18!

As school choice continues to expand, recent state legislation and the new federal scholarship tax credit program are creating new possibilities for families and education providers. Jess will join leading voices in education to discuss what these changes mean for the future of school choice and emerging school models.

The conference will bring together educators, innovators, and leaders to discuss topics including personalized learning, AI, school finance, education policy, and what it takes to scale new models while maintaining quality and access.

We’re honored to be part of the conversation and to contribute to the ideas and work shaping what education can look like for children and families 💚

🌿 Meet Ms. Stover! 🌿

We’re so excited to introduce Ms. Ashlyn Stover to the CKC Lexington family!

Ashlyn brings a wonderful combination of education, classroom experience, and a genuine love for helping children grow. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from Georgetown College and is currently working toward her Master’s in Elementary Education. She has also spent several years working in early childhood education and currently works with students throughout Lexington District One.

One of the things that stood out to us about Ashlyn is her belief that every child learns differently and deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported. She especially loves hands-on learning and creating opportunities for children to explore, ask questions, and discover things for themselves.

From science experiments and art to writing, outdoor exploration, and creative projects, Ashlyn loves making learning something children can experience rather than simply being told about.

When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her reading, journaling, taking walks, enjoying time with friends and family, or spending time with her guinea pig, Gus!

We’re thrilled to have Ashlyn joining our team and can’t wait for our CKC students to get to know her. Welcome to CKC, Ms. Stover! 💚

🌿 Meet Mrs. India! 🌿

We are so excited to introduce you to another wonderful addition to the Carolina Kids Co-op Lexington team!

Mrs. India will be joining us as our Early Education teacher, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her bringing her love of learning, nature, and childhood to our youngest learners!

India has spent the past three years homeschooling her two youngest children and is passionate about making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. She believes childhood is sacred and that children learn so naturally when they are given the freedom to play, explore, spend time outside, and follow their curiosity — which makes her such a wonderful fit for the CKC philosophy!

India holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina with a minor in Organic Chemistry.

Outside of CKC, India is a wife and mom of three boys. Her family loves hiking, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoys gardening, growing their own food, collecting way too many houseplants, and coloring in coloring books!

We know Mrs. India is going to bring so much warmth, curiosity, and joy to our Early Education classroom, and we can’t wait for your children to get to know her!

Welcome to the team, India Franklin. We are so lucky to have you! 💚

🌿 Meet Ms. Abbi! 🌿

As we get closer to the start of our fall semester, we will be introducing the members of our incredible teaching team.

We are so excited to introduce the newest member of our Carolina Kids Co-op Lexington teaching team, Ms. Abbi, who will be leading our 2–3 year old preschool classroom this year!

Ms. Abbi has an Associate’s degree in Science and a growing passion for early childhood development. She is especially drawn to Montessori and Waldorf-inspired approaches that encourage independence, creativity, curiosity, nature, and hands-on learning.

Her goal for our youngest learners is simple but incredibly important: to create a classroom where children feel safe to be themselves, experience their big feelings, make mistakes, ask questions, get messy, and discover the world around them without shame.

When she isn’t teaching, you can usually find Ms. Abbi baking, exploring the outdoors, or joining Layne in whatever imaginative adventure he has created that day!

We are incredibly excited to have her joining our team and can’t wait to watch her build relationships with each of our Little Sprouts this year. We know she is going to bring so much warmth, creativity, patience, and joy to our preschool classroom.

Welcome to the team, Abbi Pope! We are so lucky to have you! 💚

What do we mean when we say Carolina Kids Co-op Lexington is an academic co-op?

We believe homeschool can be flexible, adventurous, and full of time outdoors without sacrificing academic excellence.

When we say academic, we mean your child is actually learning.

Our students aren’t simply completing crafts, playing outside, or participating in themed activities. They are building real academic skills through intentional, age-appropriate instruction.

• Reading & Language Arts
Students work on phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, writing, and comprehension at their appropriate level.

• Mathematics
We focus on understanding the why behind math—not simply memorizing steps. Students build strong foundations and progress through concepts as they master them.

• Science
Science is hands-on, inquiry-based, and connected to the world around us. We explore real scientific concepts through experiments, observation, nature, and discovery.

• History & Social Studies
Students build a foundation of knowledge about people, places, cultures, civilizations, and the events that shaped our world.

• Mastery-Based Learning
We don’t believe in moving a child forward simply because the calendar says it’s time. Our leveled approach allows students to work at an appropriate academic level and build mastery before moving on.

And yes, we take it outside.

Academic doesn’t have to mean sitting at a desk for six hours.

A math lesson can happen under a tree.
Science can happen in the woods.
Reading can happen in the grass.
Writing can happen after an afternoon of exploring.
Learning can be active, hands-on, messy, curious, and fun.

We want our students to leave us not only loving learning, but also with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently move forward in their education.

Small classes. Strong academics. Hands-on learning. Lots of fresh air.

Our kindergarten class has only 1 spot left and our other groups have very limited spots left as well! Reach out now to get a spot for this fall! [email protected]
