WANTED: Performers to Join the Cast of HONK! 🦆🎭

We’re looking for a few talented performers to complete the cast of our inaugural Professional Series production of Honk!

We are currently seeking:

Greylag / Drake / Farmer (Voice)

* Strong character actor
* Male-presenting role with vocal opportunities

Turkey / Barnacles / Father Swan

* Fun character track with multiple featured roles
* Great comedic timing and stage presence

Maureen / Dot / Mother Swan

* Female-presenting role
* Warm character work with featured vocal moments

I spent today looking over the Aladdin Jr. script and reading through a Viola Spolin book on improv. She’s the woman who helped develop Second City in Chicago — super cool material and incredibly insightful.

As we get closer to classes and our Summer Stage project, I can’t help but get excited.

I’m excited that I get to direct.
I’m excited that I get to pass down what I’ve learned over the course of my 33-year acting career.
And I’m excited that I get to mentor these kids and help them reach new heights.

The goal isn’t just for these students to put on a show they’re proud of — it’s to help broaden their horizons, build confidence, develop skills, and grow as performers and people.

When I was younger, I went through an acting summer camp called Tri-District Arts Consortium in Columbia, South Carolina. It was held at Columbia College and led by some incredibly talented people. Over the course of four summers, I learned so much and made memories that stuck with me for life.

Honestly, the program we’ve put together at EnKore reminds me a lot of that experience, and I can’t wait to provide the metaphorical light, rain, and soil for these kids to bloom.

I’m also really excited about the team we’ve put together. These kids are truly in for a treat.

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated this page, and honestly… life has been moving fast.

Over the past several months, Kelly and I have stepped into a brand new adventure with EnKore Theatre Company here in Woodland, CA. We’ve been building something from the ground up — not just a theatre company, but a place where kids can belong, grow in confidence, discover creativity, and experience the arts in a safe and encouraging environment.

Right now, a lot of that dream looks like paint rollers, long nights, construction dust, and trying to imagine what this space will become.

These walls are slowly turning into a home for stories, music, laughter, rehearsals, friendships, and performances.

As someone who has spent most of my life acting, playing music, teaching, and creating… it honestly feels surreal to help build a space dedicated to all of those things.

I’m excited.
I’m nervous.
I’m tired.
But I’m also incredibly hopeful.

Watching the painting process happen this week has made everything feel more real. The space is starting to feel alive.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us, donated, painted, shared posts, prayed for us, or believed in what we’re trying to create. It means more than you know.

This is just the beginning.
