🏘️ Our Kindergarteners Are Building Community! ❤️

Our kindergarten students have been busy learning all about their community and neighborhood! Throughout this unit, students explored different places in their community, learned about the important roles of community helpers, and discovered how each person and place helps make a community a special place to live and learn.

To wrap up our learning, students completed a vibrant, hands-on learning project! They worked together to construct their very own neighborhood/community, incorporating places and people they learned about throughout the unit. 🏫🚒🏥🏪🏠

This project gave our young learners the opportunity to be creative, collaborate with classmates, and show what they know in a meaningful and exciting way!

We are so proud of the thoughtful communities they created and the wonderful learning that happened along the way! 🌟

Happy International Day of Peace!
Today, September 21st, the world comes together to focus on unity—and that is exactly what our students did! We are overjoyed to officially launch the video from our 6th annual Unity March!

A HUGE shoutout and special thank you to our amazing art teacher, Ms. Rafferty, for organizing this entire event and carrying on this beautiful Lansdowne tradition for the 6th year! Every unique sign you see in this video was made by a student under her guidance.

This week, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Ms. Parker, one of our incredible 3rd-grade teachers!

📍Born and raised right here in Lexington, KY, Ms. Parker brings almost 10 years of teaching experience, warmth, and dedication to our Lansdowne classroom community every single day. 🐆✨

"I love that our students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Each year I learn so much from my students. I love seeing the joy on their faces when they get to share about their experiences and the excitement of the students learning about each other. It’s so special."

❤️ Her Inspiration
Teaching runs in Ms. Parker's family! She was inspired by her grandmother, who was also an elementary school teacher. Today, Ms. Parker keeps a special photograph in her classroom of her grandmother reading to a group of students—a daily reminder to lead with the same passion and heart.

🐾 Beyond the Classroom
When she’s not teaching, you can find Ms. Parker:
🐶 Spending quality time with her dog, Ollie (they love walking at the Arboretum or relaxing together while watching her favorite shows!)
🎬 Heading to the movies on the weekend

🐾 MONDAY STAFF SPOTLIGHT 💙⚪

Happy Monday, Leopard Family! To kick off our week with joy and celebrate our amazing team, today we are featuring our front office Registrar, Mrs. Wiseman! 🐆✨

💼 Position: Front Office Registrar (19th year working in a school!)
📍 Birthplace: Fairfield, Ohio (The Buckeye State!)
📚 Favorite Subject: Reading (I have always loved books!)

🌟 Favorite Part of the Job: The cute silly things they say! I have many besties that visit each day for hugs (stalling to get where they were supposed to go!). 😊

🏫 Journey to Education: I stayed home with my babies for almost 10 years and volunteered at my children’s school. When my last baby went to Kindergarten I was offered a part time position that quickly turned into full time. This year will be my 19th year working in a school. ✨

🪂 Fun Fact: I have gone skydiving with my family 2 times and we love it!

🧩 Hobbies & Free Time: Reading, doing puzzles, and watching true crime shows! 📖📺

We are so grateful for Mrs. Wiseman's warm smile, welcoming heart, and leadership in our front office! 💙⚪

This week, Mrs. Baber’s classroom transformed into a dynamic hub of vibrant learning as students embarked on a rich, multi-sensory academic journey.
Inspired by Marjorie Priceman’s delightful literary work, How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World, scholars immersed themselves in target vocabulary and key comprehension skills.

Students practiced answering text-based questions, mastering sequential transition words (first, next, last), and refining their handwriting precision to author their own step-by-step recipes.
To bring their written instructions to life, the young authors applied their knowledge directly by constructing and enjoying their very own "apple pie in a cup" creations!

By seamlessly weaving reading, structured writing, and interactive experiences together, Mrs. Baber created a truly memorable learning atmosphere where foundational skills and creativity flourished. 🍎✨
