Hey Rockbridge County — the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here! Our 5th Annual RCPSF Co****le Tournament happens today, and we can’t wait to toss some bags, raise some smiles, and support our students.

📍 Where & When

Location: Virginia Horse Center, Reel Arena — come find us under the open sky and let’s make today count.

Time: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM — we start sharp, but feel free to arrive a bit early to get settled in, grab some food, stretch out, and warm up those throwing arms.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 What to Expect

Double-elimination format — every team of two gets a shot, and every game counts.

A friendly, fun atmosphere with plenty of cheering for your favorite tossers.

Barbecue, beer, and seltzer available for purchase, so you can enjoy good eats & drinks while watching or playing. The News-Gazette

Grant Spotlight: Science in Action at RCHS

Between 2011 and 2014, the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation invested in a powerful series of grants that transformed the science department at Rockbridge County High School.

From hands-on labs to tech-enhanced learning, these grants brought real-world science into the classroom:

🧪 Vernier LabQuest Mini – Gave students the ability to collect and analyze scientific data just like professionals in college and research labs.

📱 iPads for Physics & Calculus – Used to record labs, access top learning platforms like Wolfram Alpha and YouTube, and run advanced apps like Video Physics. Students even reviewed with 82+ teacher-created tutorial videos for AP success!

⚗️ Chemistry Lab Equipment – Expanded lab capabilities, including acid-base titrations, giving all chemistry students hands-on experience with critical scientific methods.

These grants empowered students to explore, experiment, and think like scientists—building skills that last far beyond the classroom.

Grant Spotlight: CAD Lab at Maury River Middle School

In 2013–2014, the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation took on a major initiative: creating a Computer Assisted Design (CAD) Lab at Maury River Middle School—and it changed the game for technical education in our community.

With funding provided by the Foundation—and generous support from local partners including Micron Bio-Systems—we equipped the school with:
✅ Computers
✅ Specialized design software
✅ Technical equipment

This grant significantly expanded the hands-on learning and career readiness opportunities available to students. This is what RCPSF is all about: partnering with our community to open doors for students and inspire their futures.

Grant Spotlight: Natural Bridge Elementary School 🎶

Thanks to a grant from the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation, the music room at Natural Bridge Elementary is now filled with the sounds of creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning!

This grant provided much-needed instruments to help students explore music in meaningful, hands-on ways—supporting both their curricular goals and personal development.

“Our music program at NBES is able to offer diverse, hands-on, playful experiences to all of our students thanks to the generosity of the RCSF.
