Grant Spotlight: Bringing Science to Life at Central Elementary!

What does your support of the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation look like in the classroom? Sometimes, it looks like a tank full of water helping students see science in action!

Through an RCPSF grant, Central Elementary School received a Density Flow Model Junior, a hands-on learning tool designed to strengthen STEM education for 466 students in grades PK–5.

The Density Tank allows students to explore concepts like:

🌊 Ocean currents
💧 Density relationships
〰️ Wave components
🧠 Critical thinking and problem-solving

Instead of simply reading about these concepts, students can see them happen right in front of them, turning abstract scientific ideas into engaging, hands-on learning experiences. As Central Elementary’s Liz Schmidt shared, the tank’s visibility allows students to observe these scientific principles firsthand.

💛 This is where your support goes. RCPSF grants help our teachers bring creative ideas, innovative tools, and meaningful learning experiences directly to Rockbridge County students.

Want to help us fund the next great classroom idea? Join us for the annual RCPSF Co****le Tournament and help us continue investing in our local schools!
