Romans 11:13-24

13Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry 14in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. 15For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? 16If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. 19Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. 23And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

Romans 10:13-17 (ESV) 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Roman’s 6:20-23 (ESV) For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin is a cruel master ⛓️‍💥! cursing out 🤬 another person because of being cut off on the road 🏎️, or feel slighted in some way; Spending our time and resources binging on po*******hy 📺; A man abandoning his family to spends nights at the bar 🍺; A woman who’d allow her children to suffer to get her fix 💉. A person willing to do any and every thing for a dollar 💵 , no matter who gets hurt in the process. A husband abandoning his wife and family for a new fling. These are a few of the many ways sin enslaves us. We’re no longer in control when we go down the road of sin.

“Sin will take you further than your willing to go, keep you longer than your willing to stay, and cost you more than your willing to pay”

But God is a loving father who calls us to be His servants for our good. Please join us as we turn to God’s Word in the Book of Romans to learn how we gain freedom in Christ.

Romans 6:1-4 (ESV) Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

As Jesus died and was buried in the tomb, so too are those who want to be disciples of Christ called to die to their old life of sin and to be buried in the watery grave of baptism. And Just as Jesus was resurrected from death to life, so too are those who are those who desire to be disciples of Christ are raised from the watery grave of baptism and resurrected to a new life, cleansed of sin.

Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be liberated from the shackles of sin and death, and walk in a newness of life with eternal hope for salvation.

no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”

We all have turned aside from God's will and His Word. Me, you, and every one else. Justice demands consequences for violating God's Word. This is the bad news. But the Gospel, The Good News, is that through faith in Jesus, we can receive mercy from God to be acceptable in His sight.
