Thank you to everyone who commented, texted and DMd about our lady here yesterday.

We have been keeping a closer eye on her. Making sure she is still coming up to eat, staying with the herd and not losing excessive amounts of weight. Bright and alert eyes are always a good sign too

We’re happy to report that so far she seems well!
Honestly it’s been mind blowing to us coming from dairy - to see how hardy these beef breeds are.

Let’s root her on for a speedy recovery!🙏

We got a message from one of our neighbors recently asking how Pita’s eye was doing, and it honestly brought things a little full circle 🙏

Pita and PJ are the reason Heslep's Coastal Cattle even exists. They’re where all of this started. So knowing that people in our community notice them, care about them, and even reach out to check on them means more than you probably realize. 🤎

And I realized I never gave you guys a proper Pita update!

For anyone who missed it, the first photo is what her eye looked like at the beginning of August. Dr. Mike Pesato with Four State Veterinary Services came out to take care of her, and afterward Pita needed eye medication twice a day for about a week.

Now look at that eye! 🤩

So much brighter, more alert, and most importantly, she is SO much more comfortable. She’s doing really well. ❤️

We really are grateful to be part of a community that cares about these animals right along with us. 🐄🤎

If you have a hunting husband, you already know what time of year it is… see ya in the spring 👋

Hunting has been a huge part of Rob’s life for as long as I’ve known him. He spent many of those years hunting in Pennsylvania, where he made some pretty special friendships along the way.

One of those is Ethan. Rob took him under his wing when he was younger, and they’ve spent a lot of time hunting together over the years.

When we moved down to Sussex County, Rob may have left PA behind, but thankfully he didn’t leave those friendships there. They still make the time to get together, get in the blind, and keep doing something they both love.

For Rob, it’s never just been about the hunt. It’s the friendships, the tradition, the time outside, the peace he finds in it, and yes — putting some good wholesome food on our family’s table!

So with hunting season upon us, here’s your introduction to another side of the guy behind Heslep's Coastal Cattle. 🦆

And Ethan… I hope you’re ready, because I’m pretty sure you’re stuck hunting with him for life now. 😂🤎

One thing about life in agriculture—it will never stop surprising you

We never expected to fall completely in love with chickens of all things 😂 but somehow these little things have become such a special part of our homestead and our family.

And watching the kids love them has been even better.

They’re learning that animals depend on us. That chores still need to be done even when we don’t feel like doing them. And that caring for something every single day is a responsibility—but also such a gift.

It’s funny how something as simple as adding a few chickens can bring a family a little closer 🤍 🐓

Can I let you guys in on a secret?

Marketing myself still feels weird 😅

I can talk about cows all day. I can teach a room full of people. I can drive to a farm I’ve never been to, breed someone’s cattle, answer a million questions and feel completely confident in what I’m doing.

But handing someone my business card?
Driving around with my business plastered on the side of my car?
Posting over and over again about the services I offer?

That part still pushes me WAY outside of my comfort zone.

Owning a small business has forced me to learn that you can’t quietly sit back and hope people somehow figure out what you do. You have to tell them. You have to promote yourself. You have to talk about what you’re good at. And sometimes you have to be your own biggest hype person—even when it feels awkward as hell. 😂

So here I am, getting a little more comfortable being uncomfortable.

Because I am proud of what I’ve built. I’m proud of the knowledge and experience I bring to the cattle industry. And I genuinely freaking LOVE breeding cows..

Maybe one day it won’t feel weird. 😂

Until then—if you see me out and about, now you know who to call when you need a cow bred. 🐄🤙
