The new 4-H year is here! 🍀🤩🎉

A new year means new opportunities to explore, learn, and grow! It’s time to choose your projects and pathways and get ready for another year of hands-on 4-H experiences.

Not a 4-H member yet? Now is the perfect time to join! Discover what Iowa 4-H is all about and connect with other youth while learning by doing through fun activities that build skills you’ll use for years to come.

Enroll through 4-H Online today, or reach out to us at the Decatur County Extension office with questions and to find a club with meeting times and personalities that fit your family. If you are re-enrolling, please reach out to your leaders to ensure they are starting a new 4-H year and check in on September meetings. Some clubs will have one and some will not. Grain in the bin doesn't mean the job's done. What happens in the next few weeks — harvest timing, storage conditions — can make or break the quality (and value) of this year's crop.

The Ag and Biosystems Engineering team is pulling together experts from the Iowa Grain Quality Initiative and the ISU Kent Feed Mill and Grain Science Complex for a webinar Monday, Sept. 21. They'll break down where grain quality problems start, how much you could be losing at the header and what it actually takes to keep stored grain in good shape through winter.
