A Cadet Trained in Autism — Trained Once, Prepared for Life — Before the First Call
According to the CDC, approximately 1 in 31 children is identified with autism, and an estimated 5.4 million adults in the United States are also on the autism spectrum. Autism is a lifelong disability, which means first responders will encounter autistic children and adults throughout their careers.
First Awareness / Before the First Call is a national initiative of Prevent-Educate, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free first responder autism awareness training since 2012.
Our goal is simple: make our first responders proactive — not reactive by bringing Autism Awareness & Interaction Training into firefighter, EMT and paramedic education before they enter active service.
