Happy Pride! I’ve supported numerous 2SLGBTQIA+ clients throughout my 10 years as a Certified Birth Doula. Navigating preconception, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum can be difficult, especially if you have any worries that you may encounter biases. Schedule a free ~30 minute Zoom consultation to see how I can help advocate for your care. Also, let me know if you would like references, as some of my amazing past clients would be happy to chat.

People are amazing, and I’m honored to live in The Berkshires where Elizabeth Freeman made a difference.

“State Reps. Leigh Davis of the 3rd Berkshire District and Bud L. Williams, of the 11th Hampden District, are filing legislation establishing Aug. 22 as Elizabeth Freeman Day of Equality, Healing, and Remembrance in the commonwealth…

Establishing Elizabeth Freeman Day will ensure that future generations learn not only about her extraordinary bravery, but also about the power of one person to change the course of history…

Her story reminds us that progress is often made because ordinary people perform extraordinary acts of courage. By honoring Elizabeth Freeman, we honor not only her struggle for freedom, but also the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice for all. Her example teaches us that courage is contagious,” said Bud Williams…”

“I can’t say enough amazing things about Odessa. From the moment we started working together, she made my fiancé and I feel supported, informed, and truly cared for. As a first-time mom, I had so many questions and emotions, and she was always there to guide me with patience and reassurance.

During labor, Her calming presence, encouragement, and hands-on support helped me stay grounded and confident when things weren't going as planned. She reminded me of my strength, and helped create such a positive and empowering birth experience.

Even after my baby arrived, she continued to check in and offer support, which meant so much during those early postpartum days.

I would recommend Odessa to any expecting mom who wants to feel supported, empowered, and cared for every step of the way.”

I LOVE when support partners take pictures of me at a birth! Here I am providing assistance to my doula client during the birth of their first child. I’m moving my client into the Spinning Babies’ Side Lying Position so that their sweet little baby can rotate optimally down the birth canal for less discomfort and a shorter labor.

Should you wait until your breasts feel full before nursing or pumping?

The short answer? No, you don’t need to wait.

Breastfeeding works on a simple but amazing system: supply and demand. The more milk you remove—whether by nursing or pumping—the more your body knows to make. Waiting until your breasts feel full can actually send the opposite message to your body, signaling it to slow down milk production.

Here’s how you can keep your supply flowing:

👉 Nurse or pump often, following your baby’s hunger cues.
👉 Focus on a proper latch to help your baby feed effectively.
👉 Minimize unnecessary formula supplementation, which can impact your supply.

When your breasts are regularly emptied, your body understands that your baby needs more milk. If feedings are delayed or missed, or if your baby isn’t latching well, it can lead to a reduced supply over time.

Remember, your body is uniquely equipped to meet your baby’s needs—whether you’re nursing one baby or multiples. By responding to your little one’s cues and staying consistent, you’re giving them the best start.
