Duffle bags of HUGS is a service project created by the American Heritage Girls organization. The goal is to provide a duffle bag of basic needs, such as toiletries, basic school supplies and a comfort item, to each child that is removed from their unfit home. The bags are given by a social worker within the KVC organization. The Leavenworth, Kansas area AHG troop, KS0167, has entered it's second y
ear of conducting this community service project. The initial goal was to collect the items for 150 bags and in May of 2014 the girls accomplished that. During the 2014-2015 program year these same girls attempted to reach a much loftier goal of 300. Their goal was so generous that the supplier wasn't able to provide that many bags! May 2015 these ladies donated 275 bags to KVC. This page is created to assist the young ladies by reaching out to our community. To attain all the items needed for a successful service project we will rely on the generosity of our friends, family and neighbors. There are two items which are required by the national AHG organization; a new or handmade blanket and the AHG logo duffel bag. The bags are $6.00 each with a grand total of $1,800 for this year. As you can see this is an enormous undertaking for our young ladies. They have faith in our Lord and Savior that these children in need will not be left empty handed. The bags not only benefit children in Leavenworth County but various outlying ones too. All contributions can be mailed to:

"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
