Students in our Agriculture programs continue to excel at the state level!

The Nursery Landscape FFA team from Vista Ridge High School placed 9th at the State Career Development Event at Sam Houston State University, marking their first Top 10 finish after advancing to state for the past four years. Team members included Joshua Burdick, Charlie King and Mia Maginel, with Joshua earning 1st place individually out of 229 competitors and qualifying for a scholarship.

In addition, four Floral Practicum students earned their Level 2 Industry-Based Certification through the Texas State Florists Association, the highest certification available to high school students. This rigorous assessment required students to complete multiple professional floral designs within a set time frame.

Congratulations to Jaylee Agnew, Riley Heston, Sarah Culveyhouse and Haeun Kim on this accomplishment!

CTE Industry Partner of the Month: Precision Camera & Video
We’re proud to recognize Precision Camera & Video for their continued support of our journalism and student media programs.

“Precision Camera has been an industry supporter and a valuable resource for brand new journalism advisers,” Glenn High School journalism adviser Connor Brown said. “They’ve given teachers hands-on opportunities to play with equipment and advice on how to approach photography within their classrooms.”

Advisers have been able to take these skills learned at Precision Camera & Video and apply them directly to their classrooms and student publications. This has empowered students to learn more advanced techniques with their equipment and capture incredible photos.

CTE Teacher Spotlight: Jessica Stamp, Vandegrift Yearbook & Newspaper Adviser

We’re proud to recognize Jessica Stamp for her exceptional leadership as student media adviser at Vandegrift High School.

Ms. Stamp leads a dynamic journalism program, advising both yearbook and newspaper. Her classroom mirrors a professional newsroom, giving students real-world experience while building confidence, collaboration and responsibility.

“If you get the chance to visit her classroom you will find students taking the lead and running things, while she provides the occasional guidance and needed oversight- all while making it clear that her student journalists are able to take risks, be protected, and publish their truth,” Vandegrift Assistant Principal Collin Fletcher said. “It is common for teachers to take charge and run things, but a brave teacher does the groundwork in order to relinquish control to students. In this way, Ms. Stamp ensures learning is meaningful and impactful. ”

Students in Ms. Stamp’s programs have won national awards and are consistently recognized for their talent and journalistic integrity. Ms. Stamp was also recently honored with the 2026 Edith Fox King Award from the Interscholastic League Press Conference.
