We made our own version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar! The kiddos picked the food we used and got to color their own pages. And used cups to paint their caterpillar on the front cover. It was so much fun!

The first day of school is different as a daycare provider. Since I do daycare, my children are with me all day everyday...

The first day of school is different as a daycare provider.

Since I do daycare, my children are with me all day everyday in the summer. When they go back to school, it feels like a part of me is missing. I feel "homesick" in a sense. I walk past their bedrooms and feel sad they arent in there giggling or playing.

Today,
There were 3 less waters to fill.
There were 3 less plates to prepare at lunch.
There were 3 less snacks to get ready at snack time.
There were 3 less activities to get ready.
Less "mom can I do this"
Less "mom I love you so much"
There were 3 less children.

Each day gets more "normal" and I get used to them going back to school. But that first day is always hard 💛

I love pipe cleaners because there are so many ways to be creative with them! They are flexible but hold shape to create so many possibilities.

They encourage imagination.
They encourage independence.
Strengthens hand muscles.
Helps improve fine motor control.

Since school is starting back up next week, it felt like a good time to share some ways we learned and explored with pipe cleaners this summer!

I transformed my dining room into an End of Summer Carnival Game Party today at daycare... and to say it was fun is an understatement! All the laughter and cheering on from each other was so good to hear.

Two and a half years ago when I bought my house, these chips in the paint weren't here.

But you know what else wasn't here...children.

Children existing.
Children living.
Children playing.
Children laughing.
Children learning.
Children growing.
Children learning right from wrong.
Children having fun.
Children just being children.

Yes, there are chips in the wall. They will get fixed. The house will be clean at the end of every night. The toys and activities put away. But what remains will be the memories and the lasting impact these children have made on myself and each other. ❤️
