✨ Hi new friends! ✨

I’ve noticed some new faces here on Hilary’s Wheels of Hope, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share what this journey is all about 💙

Hilary’s Wheels of Hope was created to support students with disabilities who are preparing for college. Navigating academics is one thing—but balancing that with personal care and independence? That’s a whole other layer, and it’s something I’m deeply passionate about helping others manage.

Here’s how I do that:
🎓 1:1 ConsultationsI work directly with students to talk through their goals—both academically and personally. We focus on future career paths, building independence, and understanding the day-to-day realities of managing personal care while in college.

🎤 Public SpeakingI share my own college experience—what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons I learned along the way. I also provide practical tips on time management, independence, and finding balance between school, responsibilities, and actually enjoying college life.

🤝 Community PartnershipsI’m actively working to partner with independent living centers and universities across Kansas to expand this support and reach more students.

🚐 Big Goal Alert! One of my current projects is raising funds for a wheelchair accessible vehicle. This will be life-changing—not just for my daily independence, but also for traveling to campuses and speaking engagements. I’ve started a GoFundMe with a goal of $25,000 to make this happen!

This company is only about 4 months old, but it already means so much to me. My mission is simple:
💫 Help students pursue college with confidence—not fear of limitations.
If you’re new here, thank you so much for being part of this journey. I’m excited to share more, connect with you all, and continue building something meaningful together 💙

🎉 It’s official — HilarysWheelsofHope.com is LIVE! 🎉
I’ve poured a great deal of heart and hard work into building this website, and I hope it reflects the joy, purpose, and passion behind Hilary’s Wheels of Hope and the work I am committed to doing alongside students with disabilities.

Our student intake form is now available on the website. At this time, information regarding future partnerships, consultation and speaking engagement pricing is still in development. As the organization continues to grow and those partnerships are formed, we will share updates and additional details.

I am incredibly proud of the business I have created and the foundation we are building. My hope is that, through this work and the relationships we form, people will see the lasting impact Hilary’s Wheels of Hope will have—not only on students today, but on future generations as well.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far. I’m so grateful, and I can’t wait to share many more exciting things with you all soon.

🚀 Business Update from Hilary’s Wheels of Hope!

I’m excited to share that I met with the Small Business Center for the second time this past Thursday — and wow, it was productive! We talked about everything from website updates to outreach strategy, and I’m feeling incredibly encouraged by the direction things are heading.

🌐 Website updates are coming soon
🤝 Over the next two months, I’ll be reaching out to potential partners at both colleges and independent living centers
🎉 I’m aiming for an unofficial launch in February
💻 I’ll be starting virtually for now, with limited in-person options as transportation allows

This is just one more reminder of why my GoFundMe for a wheelchair-accessible van is so important. With reliable transportation, I can expand my reach, travel for partnerships, and serve even more communities.

And for those who follow my personal social media — yes, it’s been a minute 😅 — but I have some exciting posts and a new YouTube series in the works! Stay tuned.

Hi! I am Hilary Garrett. I was selected as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas ’20-’21 back in March 2020, which is where my passion for helping others and public speaking was ignited. I live in Lawrence, KS. I was born with cerebral palsy and, while my life has had challenges, I love trying new things. I graduated from Kansas State University and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Science in December of 2021. I loved my college experience. One of my biggest life goals is to help the next generation achieve their college dreams. I hope to do this through the creation of my own company I will call Hilary’s Wheels of Hope. The goal of this company will give me the opportunity to grow my motivational speaking career but I also hope to help students with disabilities, create a balance between managing their personal needs, as well as their academic careers.
