WE RULE This is accomplished through artistic expression including poetry, musical lyrics, selected reading lists, and role plays.

We teach young women who had experiences in sexual violence and broken relationships how to Respect, Unify Love and Empower (RULE) themselves and each other through the use of artistic expression. We R.U.L.E., a 501(c)3, is a mental health curriculum dedicated to teaching 7th through 12th grade young women who had experiences in sexual abuse, rape and broken relationships in the Detroit Metropolitan area how to Respect, Unify, Love and Empower (RULE) themselves. The goal is to nurture mental and emotional health through shared connections, skill building activities and produce a community of sisterhood.

The past few weeks in the news and media surrounding Jane Doe, have made one thing clear: No survivor of Sexual Abuse or Domestic Violence should ever be silenced.

Accountability and education around the toxic myths regarding consent are essential to create safe communities. It is equally important that survivors have access to support, safety, and resources where they are believed and heard.

Your story, your voice matters. You deserved to be heard. We will not be silenced.

Statements such as, “She was drinking and came home with me, so I assumed she wanted sex” are dangerous and harmful myths in our communities.

Fact: Consent should always be clear, when a person is incapacitated, they cannot provide clear consent.

To create safe communities, discussions about respect, consent, and accountability are necessary.

The R.U.L.E. Curriculum’s Love Module helps participants understand what love is, increase self-awareness, improve self-esteem, and learn about healthy relationships.

These young ladies brought those principles to life through their painting “Friends by Chance. Sisters by choice”. 💓🎨
