Pups like Greene Bean and Mr. Pickles are the glue that help keep Student Life together and our staff would not be the same without their furry friends at home!
Brookelyn Gilbert, the Residential Life Coordinator at UNLV Housing for Tonopah Complex, has her home life coordinated by two fluffy doggies: Greene Bean and Mr. Pickles.
Mr Pickles recently got the most shocking genetic news, he’s mostly Chihuahua, with a whole mix of other breeds thrown in—including poodle—but Gilbert and her husband’s favorite discovery was that the tiny little guy is somehow 3% pit bull!

Join us in celebrating the UNLV Student Recreation & Wellness Center's own Ethan Cruz on an incredible achievement on the world stage!
Representing both Team USA and UNLV, Ethan competed in the IPF Bench Press World Championships in Poland. He placed 4th in the world in the Junior 66kg division while helping Team USA secure the 1st place overall Junior Team title! 🏆 🏋️♂️
Beyond his personal success, Ethan serves as the President of the UNLV Powerlifting Club, showcasing the incredible opportunities available through UNLV Sport Clubs and leading by example for our campus community.

Student Life has amazing staff, and they would not be the same without their furry, or in this staff members case scaled, friends at home. Reyes Luna, the Director at Student Leadership, Identity, & Community Engagement has a whopping six guppies to care for. UNLV can benefit from these finned pets as Mr. Luna aims to donate some of the baby guppies to the UNLV pre-school.

Congratulations to UNLV Collegiate 100 on earning Third Place nationally in the Collegiate 100 Workforce Development Challenge!
Competing against Collegiate 100 chapters from across the country, students Skylah Jackson-Buford, Guylan Belser, and Ryan Staples developed the award-winning project, "Future Workforce Readiness Playbook: Economic Resilience in the Age of AI – Preparing Black Students to Lead the Next Workforce Era."
Their innovative workforce development strategy explores how mentorship, AI literacy, industry partnerships, entrepreneurship, and career readiness can help prepare Black students to lead in an evolving workforce.
Again, congratulations to these outstanding students and their advisor, Dr. Kenneth A. Cottrell, on this well-deserved national recognition.

An organization dedicated to improving university life for student parents by advocating for the "awareness of the unique barriers student parents face, including childcare access, scheduling constraints, financial strain, and academic continuity." Whether Daisy is trying to boss Kahlúa around or Kahlúa is begging for a belly rub from her boyfriend, Pedro enjoys her time away from UNLV with her little family!

From leading New Student Orientation to coordinating day-to-day client events, Graduate Assistant Beatrice Nyarko has truly redefined what it means to step up at UNLV Student Union & Event Services.
Originally from Ghana, Beatrice brought her unique perspective and unstoppable work ethic to the SUES team this past year, essentially operating as a third full-time event coordinator. Her dedication to the UNLV campus and her clients makes a massive difference every single day.
