** PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN **
We are taking Stewart (formerly known as Ryan) to the vet Monday, possibly tomorrow if we can get him in. The office visit/x-rays will be close $350. We will know then if his wing will need amputated. If you can help us at all, we would truly appreciate it! Thank you always for all your support. ❤

** Stewart was found at a local park at the end of June with a large abscess on his wing. He was seen by the vet and given antibiotics hoping the infection would clear. We took him in last week on an emergency basis. We've been tending to his wound daily, giving him antibiotics/pain meds and keeping his wing wrapped. There has been improvement as swelling has gone down around the wound itself and there is healing tissue. He more than likely will need to have it amputated. **

Yesterday we were contacted about a goose in need of help. He was found at a local park with a nasty abscess on his wing at the end of June. A local rescuer caught him and took him to the vet for care. He was given a course of antibiotics to see if the infection would clear and an estimate for possible amputation. (between $850-$1400) He has a follow up appointment on August 7th or sooner if we can get him in.
His wound looks better than it initially did but he still has an infection so we got in touch with the vet (same one who treated Penelope for years) She refilled his antibiotics which I picked up for him last night.
The foster who was caring for him could not keep a bandage on his wing for long as he was ripping it off which more than likely has delayed in healing. We thoroughly cleaned his wound, applied ointment and manuka honey on a gauze pad and wrapped it well. We added some electrical tape on the outside of the vet wrap to ensure he didn't pull it off. This morning it was still on so it seems we did a good job making it comfortable for him. We will continue to change his wrap every day until he goes back to the vet.
He was named Ryan. He's a very sweet and gentle boy, a little nervous in his new surroundings but all in all he is doing very well. He immediately gobbled up several pieces of watermelon when he came and was waiting for me this morning for breakfast which he ate like a champ. He was very thin when he was rescued but he now has gained weight since having a steady source of food.
Our focus right now though is for Ryan to heal with the least amount of stress possible. He deserves nothing more than to feel secure and loved after someone dumped him off to fend for himself....a problem so many ducks/geese face here in Las Vegas.
We don't know if he will need his wing amputated but he does need extra care in the meantime and will more than likely need x-rays and possibly more tests at his next vet visit. I do have a call into his doctor to discuss his treatment but she won't be in again until next week.
I've added some items to our Amazon list if you'd like to help towards his care

Any donations will go towards his vet bill and supplies. If you could help at all, we would greatly appreciate it. We are a 501c3 nonprofit sanctuary, all donations are tax deductible.

Rescue work & sanctuary life precious moments....
Biscuit: approaches little person and bows her head
Little guy: what is wrong with Biscuit?
Me: nothing, she wants you to pet her
Peafowl when they want attention either from a human or another peafowl will bow their head and stand still like a statue, basically showing submission and approval to touch them in the face, neck and head area.
Biscuit luvs her little friend...when the little guy was younger Biscuit would always kinda bully him in her own ways...in the last year though as he has matured and grown taller than her she has stopped being a bully to him and just wants him to always pet her

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there who make a difference in the lives of others, whether human or non human. And to all the dads who are no longer with us. ❤

Like how absolutely precious are these two. 🥰 Ramon usually sleeps next to Layli but he inched over to Tw***ie Toes for a quick cuddle before settling in with Layli for the night. ☺

We are official!!!!...just not set up on all platforms yet as it takes time, but your donation is now tax deductible.
We are a rescue sanctuary dedicated to the rescue of abused and abandoned farm animals, agricultural animals, dogs, cats, birds and tortoises. We provide permanent housing, rehabilitation, medical/holistic care for the animals. We provide educational services that promotes the care of farm/agricultural animals with an emphasis on those with special needs and/or disabilities.
Until now, I have been carrying the majority of the costs to care for the animals. Our feed cost alone for the month is around $1200...that doesn't include medical expenses, supplements and among other supplies. By switching over to a 501c3, we are opening up more avenues to assist in caring for our rescues.
A donation to our nonprofit animal sanctuary would benefit you in numerous ways. Not only would your contribution go towards providing care and support for the animals at our sanctuary, it would also help us continue our mission of rescuing and providing a forever home for animals in need. By supporting our sanctuary, you are making a tangible difference in the lives of these animals, giving them a second chance at a happy and fulfilling life. Additionally, your donation would also provide you with the opportunity to make a positive impact and contribute to the well-being of our animal residents. Your generosity would not only benefit the animals we care for, but also bring a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction to you as a donor, knowing that your support is making a meaningful difference in the lives of these animals.
