In the Reef Aquarium hobby for over 30 years. This page is dedicated to the new Reef and Seahorse build. The setup, configuration, build, and life of a Reef Aquarium and how to do things correctly! There is 160 pounds of (used) base rock up in the tank I took from storage that I have used in tanks in the past. I pressure washed it but I still expect it to leach Nitrates and Phosphate into the water over time so I plan in advance for it. I recommend marine aquariums be larger than 55 gallons. Anything smaller is like moving you from a 10,000sqf home into a shot glass. More water volume is better. I have 3 Home Depot 5 gallon buckets of old sugar size sand I used and I will give it a good rinse to remove any nutrient sink that is that as well. I have 6 big blocks of Marine Pure in the Seamless Sump as well as about 60 pounds of additional reef rock for filtration in the 7ft Seamless Sump alone. I will start the Skimmer, the Bio-Pellet Reactor and my latest DIY "inefficient by design" Algae Scrubber on opening day and for the life of the system. Some people suggested that my reef system will be too sterile. I am planning long term perhaps as long as 20 years out. Each rock pile location in the tanks and in the Seamless Sump will have a 4x4x2 blocks of Corrugated Plastic to breed Copepods. The Nitrogen Cycle: The Seamless Sump Cycle will be started first. I will be Ghost feeding and after the Ammonia and Nitrite Spike, Ill put a few fish in the sump and copepods. My intent is to grow up the fauna and flora from the very beginning. For those of you whom have been asking about my 7ft. Seamless Sumps being used on a large reef system I will show details and videos as I move along. I have not interest in cutting corners on filtration, lighting or even salts. Correct sized reactors from day one for the everything for filtration for what could be the maximum growth and I'm starting the system with a worst case "Old Tank Syndrome" scenario now so it doesn't happen five years later. Best salts available that I sue for my reef systems are Marine Environment from AquaCraft. If you have comments or questions on my Reef system feel free to ask. I ordered and received a new 80 watt Pentair UV Sterilizer from BRS. It’s 43 inches or 3.5 feet long. It’s rated for a 600 gallon reef. Installing it today into the fish room. Woohoo!!!!

I had some real bad experiences with a total of 6 Neptune Systems Trident’s. I probably will not buy a 7th.

Yesterday, I finally got around to installing the new $380 “Carbon Doser” CO2 Regulator. I had no idea it would only take a few minutes to install. I can already see the super stability my SPS needs. I’m so embarrassed I didn’t do this sooner.

Okay okay okay.....
About 2 days ago, I brought the fist (repaired) Trident back from NeptuneSystems Repair center back on line and calibrated it today several hours ago.

I just brought the second second Trident online this evening. I'll calibrate it in two more days.

I also programmed the new second EB32 today but I will wait to mount it and swap the power cables and retire the old eb8 energy bar. Yes, I remove the drawers of the Neptune Tridents I get more accurate numbers I think
