Taipei has a STARLUX-themed 7-ELEVEN. ✈️

Yes, the airline.

It’s still a normal convenience store, except it has airplanes on the ceiling, aviation-themed details throughout, STARLUX memorabilia, characters from their safety video, and even a section modeled after their first aircraft.

They also play STARLUX boarding music inside.

Do you need to plan your entire day around this?
Probably not.

🤓 But if you’re an AvGeek and you’re already nearby, it’s worth a quick stop.

We stopped in, looked around, bought some snacks, and went on with our day.

🍜 7% back on dining with a $0 annual fee card?!

The Chase Freedom Flex® just got a useful refresh, especially if you have an international trip coming up.

Here’s how the 7% dining math works:

🍽️ The card normally earns 3% on dining
→ 1% base
→ +2% dining bonus

For Q4 2026, dining is also a rotating 5% category:
→ 1% base
→ +4% quarterly bonus

You don’t earn the base 1% twice, so:
1% + 2% + 4% = 7% cash back on dining

That applies on up to $1,500 in combined Q4 bonus-category spending after activation.

The other Q4 categories are:
🛒 Grocery stores, excluding Walmart and Target
❤️ American Red Cross donations

The bigger long-term upgrade: no more foreign transaction fees.

So on your next international trip, you can use the Freedom Flex for dining without getting charged ~3% in foreign transaction fees.

There’s also a limited-time welcome offer:
💰 $250 after spending $500 in the first 3 months from account opening
💳 $0 annual fee

And while Chase markets this as a cash-back card, you can combine the rewards with an eligible premium card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® to unlock airline and hotel transfer partners.

That means 7% back can effectively become 7 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar.

One downside to the refresh: cell phone protection is gone. If you were paying your phone bill with the Freedom Flex specifically for that coverage, you’ll want to move that spend elsewhere.

For a $0 annual fee card, 7% dining in Q4 + no foreign transaction fees + a $250 welcome offer + transferable-points upside is a strong combination.

Air Canada just gave its U.S. credit card a major refresh 👀

The Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card now comes with:
✈️ Automatic Aeroplan 25K Status
🎟️ 15% off eligible Air Canada award flights
💳 3X on Air Canada + travel
⛽ 2X on dining, grocery stores + gas stations
💰 up to $100 USD in Air Canada statement credits annually delivered as up to two $50 USD credits semi-annually.

There’s also a best offer ever for up to 115,000 bonus Aeroplan points:
• 75,000 points after $4,000 in spend in 3 months
• +40,000 points after $20,000 in spend in 12 months

Annual fee: $195

A few catches: the advertised “up to 5X” on Air Canada includes points earned from Aeroplan 25K status, and dining + groceries actually dropped from 3X to 2X.

Overall, I think the automatic 25K status and 15% award discount are the most interesting changes.

You can currently ride a driverless robotaxi around San Francisco for free 🤖

If you’re visiting SF and looking for something different to do, Zoox has a Rider Lounge in Union Square where you can sign up for a complimentary ride during its preview phase.

📍 Zoox Rider Lounge
301 Sutter St, San Francisco

The rides start and end at the lounge, with a few different routes. You can do a short loop around Union Square or choose one of the longer options that heads toward spots like the Ferry Building.

It’s a fun, very San Francisco thing to try, especially since it doesn’t cost anything right now.

The main downside is the wait. I’d put your name on the list first, then grab lunch, dinner, or walk around Union Square while you wait.

Save this for your next SF trip, and follow Sebastian Fung for more San Francisco finds, travel tips, and ways to get more value from your trips.

I wouldn’t book this $1,000-a-night Cabo resort until you know this. 👀

This is Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol, the first Park Hyatt in Mexico, and you can book it with Hyatt points.

The rooms are huge, the property is brand new, there are multiple pools, a massive spa, golf nearby, and the food during our stay was surprisingly good.

If you have Hyatt Globalist status, breakfast is also a great perk.

My biggest hesitation is the overall feel of the property.
Everything is very clean, minimal, quiet, and polished.

For me, it almost feels a little too restrained.

Compared with some of the other luxury resorts in Cabo, it doesn’t have as much personality or sense of place. A lot of the rooms also sit pretty far back from the ocean, so parts of the property can feel more like a desert wellness retreat.

The beach isn’t really swimmable either, although that wasn’t the biggest issue for me.

If you want somewhere extremely calm for spa days, golf, and relaxing by the pool, I can see the appeal.

Park Hyatt Cabo is a Category 8 Hyatt, though, so you’re looking at 35,000 to 75,000 points per night.

At the lower end, I can see the case for it.

Once you get toward 75,000 points, I’d want a hotel with a little more character.

✅ 400 Barry’s classes later 💪

I’m definitely not becoming a fitness influencer, but I’ve gotten increasingly obsessed with figuring out what actually moves the needle for my health: training, sleep, nutrition, recovery, bloodwork, and all the other little experiments along the way.

Thinking about doing a quarterly health optimization update with what I’m testing, what’s working, what isn’t, and the numbers behind it.

💳 Bonus points when I can offset some of it with a credit card benefits 😅

The American Express® Gold Card has over $400 in annual credits (some given in statement credits), here’s how to actually use them. 👇

The Amex Gold Card comes with over $400 in annual credits across benefits like:
🚖 Up to $120 in Uber Cash
🍩 Up to $84 in Dunkin’ statement credits
🍴 Up to $100 in Resy statement credits
🍔 Up to $120 in dining statement credits

The key is knowing where, when, and how to use each one so you don’t accidentally leave benefits on the table, especially when there’s a $325 annual fee
(https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/credit-
cards/apply/terms/personal/gold-card/91101-10-0?print= -details)

For example, I’ll use Uber Eats for pickup, look for Resy restaurants I already want to visit, and use the dining credit at eligible partners like Grubhub and Five Guys.

If you spend a lot on restaurants worldwide, U.S. supermarkets, and travel, this is one card I’d take a closer look at.

Comment “LINK” and I’ll DM you the full Amex Gold breakdown + link to learn more.

Terms apply to the benefits and offers mention in this post. Enrollment is required for select benefits.

What happens when Pokémon takes over an entire MLB stadium? ⚾️⚡️

Pokémon Worlds Night transformed Oracle Park ahead of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.

Pikachu threw out the first pitch, Snorlax and Gengar rotated through the concourse, and Pokémon GO added special activities throughout the ballpark.

Our special-event ticket included a Giants x Pikachu jersey, and we unexpectedly received the 2026 Worlds Pikachu promo card featuring Scrappy Spark.

The Giants won 6–1, and the night ended with a Pokémon drone show over McCovey Cove.

If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, there are two more free drone shows above the Ferry Building:
📍 Friday, August 28 at 9:35 p.m.
📍 Saturday, August 29 at 9:20 p.m.
📍 Sunday, August 30 at 9:20 p.m.

No Pokémon Worlds ticket is required. Arrive 20–30 minutes early for a good viewing spot.

The Cape might be one of my favorite Hyatt redemptions in Cabo. 🌊

Every room faces the ocean, you can watch surfers at Monuments directly from the hotel, and you get views of El Arco from around the property.

There are two pools, including a quieter saltwater pool built into the rocks, plus a rooftop for sunset drinks.

The big catch: this is a surfing beach, not a swimming beach, and there isn’t much within walking distance.

When cash rates start pushing toward $1,000/night, this is where World of Hyatt points can get especially interesting.

Would you stay at The Cape, or pick another Cabo resort?

Pokémon Fossil Museum is finally outside Japan. 👀

It’s at Chicago’s Field Museum through April 11, 2027, and we went to see if the add-on ticket is actually worth it.

You’ll see Fossil Pokémon next to the real prehistoric animals that inspired them:
🦖 Tyrantrum + SUE the T. rex
🪽 Archeops + Archaeopteryx
🌊 Omastar + ammonites
🐢 Carracosta + prehistoric sea turtles

The exhibit is compact, so I’d budget 45–60 minutes.

Worth it? Yes if you grew up with Pokémon, like dinosaurs, or have a kid who does.

If you don’t care about Pokémon and only have one day in Chicago, I’d prioritize the Field Museum’s permanent collection instead.

📍 Field Museum, Chicago
📅 Through April 11, 2027
🎟️ Separate timed ticket required
