Learning so we can do this work even better. ๐Ÿ“š

NVCCE Executive Director Christine Hull and Operations Manager Pam Olsen are in St. Louis this week for GiveCon 2026, powered by Bloomerang โ€” the premier conference for nonprofit professionals focused on fundraising, donor engagement, and organizational impact.

Four days. 60+ sessions. And a room full of people who are as passionate about mission-driven work as we are.

The knowledge we bring back goes directly into building a stronger, more sustainable NVCCE โ€” so we can keep supporting Nevada's civic educators for years to come.

On May 15โ€“16, theyโ€™ll testify in simulated congressional hearings, applying the Constitution to pressing questions in real time before panels of judges.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Joyce Woodhouse โ€” Nevada state senator, lifelong educator, NVCCE board member, and one of the most enduring champions of civic education this state has ever known.

Joyce continued championing the causes she believed in โ€” Nevada's students and the power of education โ€” until her final days.

Her connection to NVCCE runs deeper than most people know.

30 years ago, while working at the Clark County School District, Joyce created KidsVention, a program designed to introduce young students to civic participation and democratic processes. That program is part of who we are.

As a former state senator, she championed NVCCE in the Legislature over the last four sessions, helping secure the appropriations that allowed us to grow our programs, reach more teachers, and serve more students across Nevada. We exist at the level we do because of her belief in this work.

Nevada has lost an extraordinary public servant. We have lost a mentor, a colleague, and a dear friend.

She asked us to keep going. We will.

Rest well, Joyce. Nevada is a better place because of you. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
