Battle Born Academy Families:

It is with heavy hearts that we share that the Board of Directors of Battle Born Academy (BBA) voted unanimously at its June 18, 2025 meeting to close the school and relinquish its charter. As a result of this decision, BBA will not reopen for the 2025–2026 school year.

This difficult decision was made after careful consideration and reflects the Board’s conclusion that the school’s academic and financial operations were no longer sustainable.

BBA has appointed Josh Kern as the Closing Administrator. Mr. Kern will be overseeing the school’s closure and serving as a resource for families during this process. He can be reached at [email protected] or 202-277-8627.

We thank you for being part of the BBA community and deeply appreciate the trust you placed in our school. Our team remains committed to helping each student and family navigate the next steps with care and attention.

Our BBA co-founders are in New York this weekend sharing the work of at a conference this weekend! They shared about BBA’s approach using stories of restorative circles our teachers and students led, talking about our incredible teacher and adult culture, bragging on our counseling program, and sharing and gaining resources with other schools.

We are so proud to share BBA’s story and to learn from like-minded school partners!

Inside Out was an Emotion-filled day!! We had loads of Disgust, Anger, Fear, Anxiety, Sadness, some Embarrassment and Ennui, and so much JOY!!

Our kiddos do an incredible job talking about their feelings every day at - it was great to see them wearing their feelings on their sleeves today!

Tomorrow is Dress to Impress Day with BBA Night in the evening! We can’t wait to see your fancy outfits!

It’s Fall Spirit Week at and we are loving the cozy, spooky, autumnal looks today!!! Here’s Hudson, the goodest doggo, accidentally twinning with one of our amazing second graders!! 👻🕸️🎃

Tomorrow is Inside Out Emotions day! Come as Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, Anger, Anxiety… whatever you’re “feeling”!!!

After our middle school students finish lunch and clean up, they have the option to play some card games, puzzles, and board games. The joy and community is so fun!! Look at those smiles!

Last week, our fourth graders and some of our other students took a field trip to the ! They got to explore habitats, learn about Nevada flora and fauna, and enjoy an amazing day in the community!

Gratitude to Ms. Nunn for organizing the field trip and to all the family members who volunteered as chaperones! Thank you for helping our kiddos have an awesome time!

Our first full week of school is in the books!! had an amazing start to the school year with lots of joy, the launch of projects, engaging electives, and tons of community building. We are so to all our teachers for their hard work and to our families and students for an incredible start to the school year! 💙

Our seventh graders launched the Exploration phase of their first project in Mr. Villasana’s class this year with a visit from an Epidemiologist, Dr. Brian Labus from UNLV School of Public Health! They learned about the critical health work an epidemiologist undertakes and they built skill in seeing patterns in public health data! Thank you to Dr. Labus for sharing his expertise!

Nuestros estudiantes de séptimo grado lanzaron la fase de exploración de su primer proyecto este año con una visita de un epidemiólogo, el Dr. ¡Brian Labus de la Escuela de Salud Pública de la UNLV! ¡Aprendieron sobre el trabajo crítico de salud que el epidemiólogo lleva a cabo y construyeron habilidades para ver patrones en los datos de salud pública! Gracias al Dr. Labus por compartir su experiencia!
