๐ŸŽ‰ Join us in honoring local AANHPI authors whose stories help young readers connect with their heritage and ancestors!

โœจ Thank you Rachelle G. Luna and Leah Villanueva for writing books that celebrate cultural identity and uplift the next generation!

๐Ÿ’™ โ€œDuring the pandemic, my sons and I created โ€˜First Wordsโ€™ together so Filipino American families could learn Tagalog using the familiar American alphabet. I wanted to bridge the gap between so many Filipino Americans and the culture we come from, and give our community something we could see ourselves in. My hope is that each word becomes an invitation to carry our heritage forward with pride, and to welcome anyone into the beauty of Tagalog.โ€ - Rachelle Luna

๐Ÿงก โ€œThe โ€˜Oh, My Gulay!โ€™ workbook series was born from a simple but powerful belief: that it is never too late โ€” and never too early โ€” to find your way back to the language of your roots. Designed for diaspora families, heritage learners, and curious beginners of all ages, these workbooks are my love letter to my ancestors and family (especially my son and nieces), the Filipino language, and the communities who carry it across the world.โ€ - Leah Villanueva

๐Ÿ“š Regular reading is one of the best ways to help children practice and maintain the skills they learned during the school year.

โฐ As you start building a habit of reading, a great way to stick with it is to choose the same time every day. Aim to build up to reading 20 minutes or more a day.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Reading with your child, or having them read independently before bed, can help them to relax and wind down from their day.
