Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness are the foundation of the freedoms we cherish every day.
As we enjoy time with loved ones this holiday, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day — a day of remembrance for the heroes who gave their lives for our country.
We remember. We honor. We thank you. 🕊️

If you haven't seen, Arizona Young Surveyors Network recently held an educational event at the Desert Botanical Garden, where young aspiring surveyors had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on learning experience.
There were four different interactive stations during the event that were designed to introduce students to essential surveying technologies and techniques:
1. GNSS Base and RTK Surveying: Students explored the fundamentals of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) surveying, gaining insights into precise positioning methods.
2. Drone Flight Fundamentals: Participants learned about Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations, including flight planning and data collection, highlighting the role of drones in modern surveying.
3. 3D Scanning of Garden Sculptures: Utilizing 3D laser scanning technology, students captured detailed scans of sculptures within the garden, understanding the applications of terrestrial LiDAR in creating accurate models.
4. Phone LiDAR Scanning and Cloud Processing: Attendees used smartphone-based LiDAR applications to scan objects, process the data through cloud-based platforms, and demonstrate accessible data acquisition and analysis methods.
Getting hands-on experience and understanding practical skills helps the students stay engaged throughout the activities and increases their enthusiasm for surveying. This was another great event hosted in the Arizona area, where they are always looking for new activities for young surveyors. If you are in Arizona and want to get involved, contact the Arizona Young Surveyors Network!
