Throwing it back to one of my favorite founder portraits. ✨

A while back, I photographed Janis— business owner, entrepreneur, and creative thinker—on the shoreline of Treasure Island with San Francisco stretching out behind her. 🌊🌉

The location felt like the perfect reflection of her energy: expansive, curious, and full of possibility.

Janis has oceans of experience and a uniquely creative approach to business. She’s someone who sees connections others might miss and brings fresh thinking to everything she touches. 💫

This is one of the things I love most about photographing entrepreneurs—the opportunity to capture not just what someone does, but how they see the world.

One year ago today, we said goodbye to my beautiful mom. ❤️

I’ve been ambling through old photos and feeling my heartstrings being pulled.

These photos show pieces of her—she was funny, had a great smile, loved reading, theater and water, was loving, kind, patient (four kids!), and endlessly curious. She was a woman who loved children, embraced adventure, created a rock-solid home and was always wondering what was around the next corner. ✨

She was always game for trying something new. In 2019, I had the chance to photograph her when she modeled for a home care organization—years before she ever needed that kind of support herself. We got her all coiffed and spent half a day creating images together- fun stuff! 💕

She lived with openness, tolerance, curiosity, and a genuine love for people, especially kids, and a great ear for listening.

I miss her every day. I’m grateful for the memories and stories, and photographs that help keep her close. 🤍

Dear Mom, I hope you are enjoying your adventures in Heaven!

Some businesses can’t be fully captured in a studio. Their space is part of the story. ✨

I recently photographed an incredible healer, acupuncturist, and Chinese herbal medicine specialist in her own practice. Walking into her office, I immediately felt the care, intention, and wisdom woven into the space. 🌿

This is one of my favorite parts of brand photography—stepping into someone’s world and capturing not just what they do, but how they do it.

The details matter. The tools they use. The environment they’ve created. The feeling someone experiences when they walk through the door.

A strong brand image doesn’t just show a business owner. It gives people a glimpse into the experience of working with them. ✨

Some places make you slow down and see differently. ✨🌊

While photographing a yoga retreat on the beautiful island of Amorgos, Greece, I was constantly inspired by the simplicity of the landscape—the brilliant whitewashed walls, winding pathways, and turquoise-blue ocean. 🤍💙

I love capturing moments like this—the quiet in-between moments that tell a story. No rush. No performance. Just a glimpse into a slower pace of life after a swim. ✨

It’s the same feeling I look for in brand photography. The most powerful images don’t always need more. They need something real. 💫

One of the things I love most about photographing women founders is discovering the why behind what they do. ✨

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Jen, the founder of Haus of Marin, a medical aesthetics practice built around a beautiful idea: beauty isn’t just about how you look—it’s about how you feel.

What drew me to their work is the same thing that draws me to so many of the women I photograph: a desire to help women feel seen, supported, and confident in who they are. 🤍

Haus of Marin has created a space that feels less like a clinic and more like a welcoming place to reconnect with yourself—where science, integrity, and care come together.

That’s the kind of brand story I love capturing. Because great branding isn’t just about what you offer. It’s about the feeling people have when they experience your work.

And when that feeling is confidence, trust, and a little more joy in your own skin…that’s something worth celebrating. 💫

Very once in a while I find myself revisiting favorite photo sessions from years ago. This one still makes me smile.

My friend, artist, and movement maker Rainey Strauss stepped into my studio with no agenda other than to play. Bathed in bright white light, she flowed through a series of seated yoga-inspired movements, responding to the space moment by moment.

There was no perfect pose. No script. Just curiosity, movement, and trust.

Those are often the sessions I remember most—the ones where we leave room for something unexpected to unfold.
