Team 4848 Chaos… KACHOW OUT!! ⚡🤖

For over 16 years, Team 4848 Chaos has been a part of the robotics history of Laredo. Founded in 2010, Team 4848 is the oldest active FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team in the city. Dozens of students have passed through this team, each leaving their own mark — through logos, themes, memories, victories, heartbreaks, and the unique aura that has always made Chaos… Chaos.

Many former members are now grown adults with careers, families, and kids of their own, living lives far beyond the robotics room. But while members may come and go, Team 4848 Chaos continues on.

Four years ago, Diego Marines, Gadi Francisco, Armin Vanlor, and Bryan Sandoval took over Team 4848. At the time, they didn’t fully understand why the team was called “Chaos” or what the number 4848 even meant. But they embraced it.

Over the next four years, they learned, competed, laughed, struggled, succeeded, failed, and just like every member before them… they caused chaos.

As coaches, we are XTREMELY proud of everything these young men accomplished. But this post isn’t really about trophies or victories. Over the years we’ve learned it was never just about the robots. It has always been about something bigger — helping prepare these students for the future.

We watched four small, scrawny kids grow into four young men ready to take on real life and all the challenges that come with it. That’s what makes this journey special.

To Diego, Gadi, Armin, and Bryan: thank you for everything you gave to this team. You will forever be part of something truly amazing.

As this season comes to an end, we are already looking forward to the next. The Xtreme Robotics Club will begin the new year with four strong teams: Team 4849 Sabotage, Team 6892 Risky Business, Team 8284 Cyber Clones, and Team 26906 Blackout. These teams had an incredible season filled with both the excitement and heartbreak that every robotics season brings. Through it all, they grew, learned, competed, and made us extremely proud. We know they will come back next season stronger than ever.

As we continue to grow, we will also be rebuilding our veteran teams, Team 4848 Chaos and Team 15359 Rage Against the Machine, with a new generation of students ready to step up and continue the tradition.

To prepare for the upcoming season, the Xtreme Robotics Club will be hosting a Summer Robotics Camp open to all LISD students from elementary through high school. Whether you are an experienced coder or someone who simply wants to learn how to build and create from the beginning, this camp is for you. Students will learn about robotics, coding, engineering, teamwork, and competitive robotics in a fun and welcoming environment.

The camp will run for 3 weeks beginning June 1, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge.

Students interested in officially joining the robotics club must be high school students, but the summer camp is open to all skill levels and ages across LISD.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please let us know. We are excited to continue growing the future of STEM and robotics in our community!

They work hard, and they play hard! 🎢🤖

Banquets, Main Event, luncheons, field trips, scholarships… and today marked the final mandatory “funtivity” of the year for the Xtreme Robotics Club! Whether they wanted to or not, our students had an absolute blast spending the day at Six Flags as we closed out an incredible season together.

This trip was a well-deserved reward for all the countless hours, dedication, and hard work these students put in throughout the year. Best of all, the students did not have to pay a single penny out of pocket for this amazing experience.

A huge thank you to Ms. Calles, Mr. Tijerina, and Laredo ISD board member Dr. Gil Martinez for helping make this final trip possible and for continuing to support our robotics students.

Thank you, Laredo ISD, for always investing in our kids and giving them opportunities they will never forget! 💙💛

Having too much fun can be overwhelming sometimes

It’s always an amazing thing when local community leaders recognize the value of investing in our students and the future of our community through robotics. Over the past few months, more and more people are seeing the incredible things the Xtreme Robotics Club has been accomplishing, and the support for our teams and students continues to grow stronger than ever. 🤖🔥

Yesterday, Alyssa Cigarroa, Councilwoman for District 8, took time out of her busy schedule to attend the Xtreme Robotics banquet and spend time with our students. She sat with them, talked with them about their future plans, and reminded them how important it is to continue striving to better themselves while never forgetting where they come from and always finding ways to give back to their community — just as she has done.

In an incredible act of generosity, Ms. Cigarroa personally donated a $1,000 scholarship check to every single CHAOS Robotics member to help them with whatever they may need most — from books, transportation, food, tuition, or any other expenses as they continue their educational journey. 🎓💙

Moments like these remind our students that their hard work matters and that their community believes in them.

Thank you, Ms. Cigarroa, for investing not only in the future of these students and the Xtreme Robotics Club, but in the future of our entire community as well. Your support, encouragement, and belief in these young leaders truly means the world to us.
