It’s teacher appreciation week, and today I received thank you letters from students. My impact on students as a black American teaching Spanish has always been my superpower! My student definitely reminded me of why I became a Spanish teacher. It’s been 24 years since I started my career, and this thank you letter has made me more determined to continue the work to get more students interested in becoming bilingual citizens.

It’s time to update my resume again🙌🏾 I’ve successfully completed Medical Interpreting training☺️ Now it’s time to prepare for the certification exam. It was wwwaaaayy too much medical information in English and in Spanish to memorize😵‍💫 se me fundió el cerebro😵‍💫 so I need my brain to rest before I start studying for the test!

¡Me encanta enseñar! My students did a project on describing their 4 classes and teachers in Spanish. They had the choice of creating a video presentation using Tik Tok or create a Google Slide presentation and perform the presentation in class in front of their peers. I have been waiting forever for this document to come in the mail! I am going to frame it and let it be a reminder of my next career after I retire from teaching at age 55. I have completed the coursework, but it’s time to prepare for the examination. I plan to have ALL of my credentials for the medical interpreter career in place before I retire from education.

Students love their smart phones so I decided to have them use their smartphones to create a pic collage of the activities they like to do and to describe themselves. Me gusta…(I like) Soy… (I am). Now I need to figure out a Tik Tok project🤔

Conjugation of the verb ser. You use it in a sentence to say someone’s profession, origin, telling time, and describing characteristics of nouns. Soy (I am), eres (you are), es (he is/she is/it is, you are), somos (we are), sois(y’all are), son (you all are/they are).
