Stories on the Move

Stories on the Move Stories. Music. Movement. Magic! with Ms. Karrie Karrie Korroch is a professional storyteller and a licensed Nia Technique Brown Belt Instructor.

She has worked with young children for 34 years, primarily as an elementary school and special education teacher, a preschool teacher, and a children's librarian. Karrie began using a Reggio-Inspired Approach to early childhood education in her preschool classroom in California in 1994, when universities in the United States were just beginning to understand the beauty and depth of the now well-known educational approach developed in Reggio Emilia, Italy. In 2008, Karrie fulfilled a longtime dream of travelling to Reggio Emilia, where she spent a month studying with educators from all over the world. Karrie brings a unique sense of style and an exceptionally creative approach to educational experiences. She thoroughly enjoys blending four of her greatest professional passions (movement, dance, storytelling, and child development) to enhance all types of learning. Stories on the Move is a highly innovative and completely unique play-based movement and dance class, designed by Karrie Korroch, to encourage physical fitness and well-being for young children. Stories on the Move incorporates the art of storytelling, the principles of the Nia Technique, and extensive study of the importance of play to get parents and children moving, laughing, learning, and playing together. This class offers something for everyone! Using themes to enhance imaginative play, movement choices, and creative visualization, each class features: interactive movement-based stories, puppets, instruments, music appreciation and education, guided and creative movement, attention to body awareness, dance and martial arts concepts, yoga, cooperative play and dances, and singing, all seamlessly woven into a whole lot of magical movin' and groovin' fun!

Yesterday, I taught the last sessions of Stories on the Move at Just Imagine Preschool, LLC after ten years of generating wonder, fun, movement, stories, and SO MUCH JOY together!🤩

It is my desire to offer this very public expression of my immeasurable gratitude for this wonderful school, the thousands of meaningful interactions I have experienced with children who have attended preschool there, the longevity of this deeply respectful relationship, all the lovely teachers I have worked with over those years, and to Kim Schofield-Wanamaker who created this amazing place and opportunity as its owner and director.

This school has been a space full of so much compassion, creativity, and expansive growth for the work and play I care about most. It has been one of my favorite places to be for an entire decade. We have laughed, cried, and been there for each other through so many experiences.

I clearly remember the first time I visited so long ago. I felt right at home, immediately knew that my work with children was understood and valued, and was immensely delighted to return again and again and again. I have loved every moment, appreciated the beautiful engagement of every child, and will carry all of it within my heart always.

I wish Kim all the best in her retirement and thank her with all my heart for her trust, companionship, and sincere interest in always supporting children. ā¤šŸ§”šŸ’›

We have class at Peoples Yoga tomorrow! I am looking forward to lots of fun!

You do not need to have attended the first two weeks to attend tomorrow. We are offering a series to provide continuity, to encourage relationship-building, and to create a supportive community for children and their caregivers. However, if weekly attendance does not fit your life, you are welcome to attend whenever it does work for you.

If you are new to the studio, and need help figuring out the class packages and sign-up structure, please come to class about 15 minutes early and I will do my best to walk you through that process. Or, see the link in comments below.

I am looking forward to class tomorrow at Peoples Yoga! We hope you'll join us on a regular basis, but you don't have to sign up for a certain number of classes to attend just one.

Stories on the MoveĀ® classes are collaborative, community based experiences that focus on interactive storytelling, engaging puppetry, immersive materials, movement exploration, curated music, and all sorts of creatively expressive fun!

Activities invite every participant to contribute to an inclusive, collective journey through imaginative, play-based learning, humor, delight, and positive, constructive language. The structure of class allows children to be exactly who they are while discovering limitless ways of becoming. Each experience holds space to amplify joy, develop meaningful connections, and move mindfully.

Parents and caregivers are always encouraged, though not required, to play and participate with children. Accompanying adults must remain on the studio premises, but can be outside of the room if children are comfortable attending on their own.

This new class at Peoples Yoga begins in 2 days! You don't have to sign up for a set number of Stories on the Move classes or attend a set number of weeks in a row. Continuity is always helpful for building relationships and community, yet this class simply counts as a class in your package/membership.

Our intention is to offer this as an ongoing class, though there will occasionally be weeks when we take a break.
