Anderson Adoption Journey

This week we finished up our pre-adoptive training requirements. We’ve read and reflected on many articles and 2 books, along with 3 online courses. 📚 💻 📝 The most useful of all the trainings was this book, The Open-Hearted Way to Open Adoption. It has helped shape our adoption plan by reinforcing the goal of having an open adoption.

If you’re wondering what they means, I highly recommend this book. It would a great resource for friends and family to read so that you can better understand the journey we’re on. We have a copy of you’d like to borrow it.

We had our first meeting with our private adoption caseworker last week. Our home study is underway!

We also received good news on our foster to adopt case last week. We are going to be assigned an adoption caseworker very soon! WOW! Two adoptions in progress right now.

When Mom says “put your hands in the air” it’s a little different then when others say it. 😋

I love to see stories like this where Christian leaders set a good example by loving, caring for and advocating for the needs of children.

Foster care is very hard, but it’s worth it when you can absorb some of the pain that a little one has to bear. To see them learn to trust that you are kind and will care for their needs is heart melting. To see them be able to sleep through the night because they know for sure that they won’t be left alone... To see them begin to act like kids and not little survival experts... To watch them learn imaginative play, develop a sense of humor, experience holidays and birthdays, come to you to kiss an owie... Priceless.

This may come as a surprise to some since our foster care journey has been such a difficult one, but I’d do it again. I’d do it again to save the children I’ve loved a single ounce of pain.

Deep down I knew.’ "We got a phone call from this woman, and we talked for an hour. We built our relationship and became increasingly excited. However, she never got us official proof of pregnancy. People can fake ultrasounds and blood tests online all the time."

We’re at Adoption Associates for our second training. We’re so excited to be on this journey toward parenthood!

Welcome to Brett and Becky's adoption page! We celebrated our 10 year anniversary earlier this month. In our time together have shared our home with several teens and young adults and have been foster parents to 6 children. We love kids - our nieces and nephews, friends and foster children - they make our lives more meaningful. We can't wait to experience life with a baby of our own and experience all the love and joy that comes with being forever parents.

WOW! Such an exciting time in our lives.
