I wish Michigan had more supports for autism parents with autistic children to help them not lose themselves in the daily trauma we endure. It’s so hard sometimes to be strong and to not want to give into the desperation for relief you’re screaming for and no one can hear you and your alone. How do you guys do it?

My youngest daughter Reagan who has autism, also suffers from uncontrolled absence seizures. We have spent many years in and out of the hospital adjusting meds to control the seizures. She would go a few months with good progress to have the seizures increase over time. She would have on average 40-60 a day even while she slept. Her metabolism is so high that she is on 3-6 seizure meds at a time. Because of these seizures meds all being stimulates as well she cannot gain weight. She is now 13 years old and only weights 60 pounds. She eats many times throughout the day but gets full fast and can’t eat enough in a day. We are going to the doctor today to find out if she will need to be hospitalized to put weight on her. However, I want answers and clarity. I have another daughter with autism who needs me too and I want to know the plan going forward. I don’t want to spend a long time in the hospital for her to continue down this road if meds continue to be a problem and weight. I just don’t believe doctors always have the best interest of our children. Why has it gone on this long and no intervention? I’ve brought this issue up many times and no one said anything or acted concerned until a new dr came along. Now, it’s a matter of life and death. Unacceptable to me.

Kylie and Reagan really have started enjoying going to baseball games. Kylie loves Big Lug and got to meet him for the first time and she was so happy. FYI she doesn’t like touching people much but she wanted to hold his hands. ❤️❤️💞🥹

Yesterday, I had to take my oldest daughter to an MRI brain scan. As I mentioned before, in Oct both of my girls were involved in a bad car accident and my oldest who has severe autism and epilepsy got hit the hardest and her head hit the dashboard before the airbags deployed. Since then she has been having migraines and many new explosive behaviors. I have attorneys I have been talking to as well because this accident has caused more medical problems for my daughters and costs in care. Waiting to hear back from the doctor about their conclusions on the reports but the EEG and MRI both indicate head trauma possibly due to accident. I’ll keep everyone updated as we get more results.
