JOBSITE UPDATES - RANDOLPH RENOVATION AND ADDITION
Super warm triple paned windows are installed at our Randolph project. The windows reduce condensation, keep temperature inside warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. Thermal comfort and durability along with incredible views of the Presidentials. All in a day's work.

JOBSITE UPDATES - BETHLEHEM JEWEL
BOX
We’ve started a jewel box of a glass conservatory
addition to a cool modern home in Bethlehem with
views of the White Mountains. Matt and Luke worked
with Paul to get the site prepped for concrete. Bob and
crew poured a frost -protected shallow foundation.
And then Matt and Andre got things kicked off with the
rough framing. Windows and a large glass door arrive
soon. In addition, we took advantage of being on site
to put enough solar on the garage roof to cover energy
usage on a net annual basis. Stay tuned for windows
and doors.

SCREENED PORCHES
Hot week! Dog days of summer. Bugs are out. Nothing better than a shaded, screened outdoor room to enjoy the sun and a cool drink. Most of our homes include this wonderful little addition. Great for meals and naps and lollygagging about.

JOBSITE UPDATES - SSIC
Gutters are in at Super Secret Ice Cream! Water Management is a big deal for buildings. Bulk water is our primary concern in this department. Collecting it and piping it away from the building keeps materials warm and dry, reduces rot, mildew and freeze thaw cycles that all contribute to degradation of the building. Careful planning for how to manage this water is little seen and remarked upon but a very important part of any design.

The new deck and accessible ramp at SSIC included the first phase of this bulk water management plan. The flowers and the beautiful deck immediately catch the eye, but the bulk water management from the gutter and the underground piping keeps customers and the building dry. Hard to see but equally important. As we begin design explorations for the entrance and parking areas, we will again be thinking again about bulk water and how to manage it in a way that doesn’t damage the parking surfaces or the building. It won’t be readily noticeable, but it is a crucial part of good design.

This past weekend, Project Manager Kolin Bailey and his team participated in the 20th Annual Wayno’s Disposal Golf Outing for Special Olympics at the Maplewood Golf Club in Bethlehem, NH. All proceeds from the event benefit the White Mountains Special Olympics Team to support future events like bowling, the winter games, track & field, and swimming. We are proud to have sponsored Kolin and his team as they have fun and play for a good cause.

Molly and Madison met up with Lead Carpenter Dave Bragg at High Acres for a Construction Administration (CA) meeting. Construction administration starts at the beginning of construction and supports the construction team through the end of the project. It is a pivotal part of the process because it gives the architects and the carpenters time to answer questions and to coordinate about the project to ensure quality assurance and that the design intent is being met. It is also a great way to understand and learn from one another to improve future architectural drawings and construction practices. We’ve been quite busy here at Garland Mill, so we needed to bring on some extra help. Meet the newest addition to our Garland Mill family, Miss Ella. She’ll be building homes in no time like her father, Lead Carpenter Andre.

NEW SIDING! Tellman Hill Barn is rocking its new vertical pine board siding that our crew installed this July. Stay tuned for more updates about this project as we keep working hard to bring this space to life.
