Relationships are central to Indigenous ways of knowing.

Last weekend, Jess, Maximo, MaryAnn and Lizzie started our three Sisters garden at Blue Rock Heritage Center

Just like the three Sisters, each of us have our own medicine and our communities are stronger when we bring them together. Come join us and learn about gardening or yourself.

CLC is celebrating the good work of our friends and colleagues at Dickinson College for the development of these programs: The Carlisle Indian School Digital Resource Center and the Jim Thorpe Center for Futures of Native Peoples.

Thank you for all the care, time, and effort you've invested in developing respectful, comprehensive programs that bravely confront historical truths, promote generational healing, and ensure the sacred legacy of our ancestors is remembered, available to everyone, and honored for all time.

Earlier this month along with CLC Board Secretary, Sandi Cianciulli, we welcomed, Lori Waselchuk to our 2nd Friday program. Sandi, along with our board president, MaryAnn Robins, are working with Waselchuk on a documentary about Indigenous Voices.

As always, our potluck was festive, fun (and delicious!) -and after sharing a meal, we were able to dive into various bodies of work that Waselchuk created over the last twenty+ years. One of the most potent aspects of Waselchuk's art is how she compassionately gives voice and presence to many people who would otherwise go unheard and unseen. We give a big THANK YOU to Waselchuk for documenting the valuable stories and lives of many people, and we look forward to witnessing how she will share the lives and stories of indigenous women in this next piece with Sandi and Mary Ann!

Leadership is a service, a commitment to education, advocacy, nurturing, and community building. It is seen and encouraged, cultivated in us as we grow. Today we honor our president and all of those who grew her into the the incredible community member we cherish. We are grateful to our friends and colleagues at Franklin & Marshall College for recognizing MaryAnn Robins with an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for her career in service to the community. Congratulations, MaryAnn. We are so very proud.

We had a great day at Indian Steps Museum yesterday amongst the raindrops and lovely folks that gathered to celebrate the museum's opening day! Our president, MaryAnn Robins and vice president, Joann McLaughlin made an incredible array of traditional foods to sample- aided by some wonderful cornbread baked by one of our regular volunteers, Zephyr!

Former board member and dear friend to CLC, Hannah Keller, as well as two other volunteers Trella Dubetz and Ash also helped out for the day - serving up the delicious Three Sisters Soup, Jerusalem Artichoke and venison casserole, as well as wild rice, pumpkin mash, fruit and nuts, and some delicious sassafras, dandelion, and strawberry teas!

It was a wonderful day to be in community and celebrate the beautiful work that Indian Steps provides our region! Thanks to everyone who came out- we'll see you again soon!
