I wanted to pass along something exciting for our LTX Homeschool / LHF families: True Texas Project is hosting their final Certified True Texan Youth Training of the year this Saturday in Leander.

Our family is registered to attend, and we’d love to see some of our students there if it works for your schedule!

This event is a wonderful fit for Texas homeschoolers. It easily supports our requirements for good citizenship education, Texas history, and civics—offering students a hands-on way to learn about state government, leadership, and civic engagement. For families who like to document learning, this training can be counted toward social studies hours or incorporated into your Texas history or government studies for the year.

It’s free to attend, open to youth who are interested, and all you need to do is RSVP. They will also be recording the training and may offer it later on their website for those who can’t make it in person.

(Only if your child is currently enrolled in public school.) This keeps everything smooth and documented.

4️⃣ Start homeschooling!
Yes… it really is that straightforward. Texas gives you the freedom to create an education that works for your child.

🎉 Happy Anniversary, Lampasas Homeschool Friends (LHF) ! 🎉

Twelve years ago—back in 2013—three dear friends and I finally sat down and planned our very first introductory meeting for homeschoolers and those curious about homeschooling. We had no idea how many would come or what to expect.

We used a tiny meeting area in the library (before it was expanded), and y’all… it was standing room only!

Fast forward to today—our Facebook family now includes 728 families (with several more who connect offline), and our community continues to grow and bless one another. 💛 It’s also been such a joy to see several from that very first group graduate from LHF and step into their adult or university era—living proof of the lasting impact homeschooling can have.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for choosing to walk this journey alongside me. I look forward to many more years of learning, laughing, and building a better environment for our children together.

Just a quick heads-up for our homeschool families—especially those of us with kiddos in both homeschool and public school. Texas has a new law that’s going to affect how public school students can use their phones during the school day.

📵 House Bill 1481 was signed into law on June 20, 2025, and it says no personal communication devices (like cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, or tablets) can be used during instructional time at public or charter schools—including right here in Lampasas ISD.

✨ What that means:
✔️ Students can still bring their devices, but they’ll need to stay turned off and safely stored during the school day—like in backpacks, lockers, or designated pouches.
✔️ Schools are expected to have storage options ready by the start of the 2025–26 school year.
✔️ Exceptions will be made for medical needs, IEPs/504 plans, or teacher-approved use.

If you’ve got a mix of homeschool and public school kiddos like many of us do, now’s a good time to start gently talking with your teens about these changes. Let’s help them prepare with grace and understanding. 💬💖

We all know phones are part of everyday life—but so is learning boundaries, focus, and respect. It’s a great conversation for all our kids, no matter how or where they learn.

Even with teens and older kids, picture books are still one of my favorite homeschool tools! They help introduce complex language, show writing techniques, spark creative writing, teach about historical figures and events in a memorable way, pair beautifully with bigger studies, and add seasonal fun to our day. Picture books aren’t just for littles — they’re a treasure at every age! Want ideas for using them with older kids? I’d love to share!
