Four Lakin FFA members and myself traveled to Washington DC for the Washington Leadership Conference. Below are some of the pictures from our trip.
Kenton, Cash, Warren, and Devin got to spend 4 days in the conference gaining leadership skills and learning about service in FFA. About 430 students were there for the week from around the U.S.A. including California, Oregon, Wisconsin, Missouri, and many more. I got to participate in some professional development throughout the week and went with the kids on their tours.
We got to see the memorial monuments, visited the capitol and meet with Senator Marshall, Representatives Mann, Estes, Schmidt, and Davids. It was super hot and humid, so after meeting our Kansas representatives we headed to the Library of Congress to find some water and air conditioning. On day 3 we went to visit Arlington National Cemetery, Smithsonian museums, and the International Spy Museum. We experienced the metro and got to see them building the UFC fight stage in front of the White House.
It was a great experience and we met so many wonderful people and made lasting friendships.
