Catching up on work today after a week of sewing camp with some seriously creative kids—my brain is still full of ideas (and thread scraps).

The placement of my disco ball collection above the patternmaking table is doing a lot of heavy lifting today. It makes even the most technical work feel a little more festive.

Last week’s campers also got very familiar with my “30 Second Dance Party” button… so I think it’s safe to say the mood was set pretty consistently.

We had so much fun marching in Pride in the CLE with our friends earlier this month! 🌈

One of the most meaningful parts of this season has been the conversations we’ve had with students, clients, and families of all ages about acceptance, love, identity, and belonging.

Here’s a useful little alteration I did today:

Adding some ease into your tight waistband isn’t as difficult as you may think - in this pair of slacks I was able to add almost 2” and it’s almost unnoticeable on the outside!

Are you team rotary cutter or fabric scissors?

Is your family allowed to touch your scissors?

I’m gonna be really unpopular in this sewing crowd when I say I’m not strict with my scissors at all… I use my scissors to cut open my sewing snack and snip my threads! Shhh. 🤫

My mom and I had so much fun sewing with the Avon Girl Scouts this weekend!

We helped them learn how to sew using one of my favorite beginner projects — a pillowcase made with the burrito method. It’s always so fun watching new sewists turn a pile of fabric into something they’re proud of. These girls did an amazing job!

Don’t forget to support your local Girl Scouts by stopping by a cookie booth this season. Cookie sales help make experiences like this possible — from learning new skills like sewing, to going to camp, to building confidence and money management skills.

And let’s be honest… you probably needed another box of cookies anyway.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Prom season!

My studio has officially entered sparkle season! I love meeting the amazing young folx who walk in with their gowns and suits, ready to make their look theirs. We chat about why they chose that color, that cut, that vibe — and how we can tweak the fit so they feel absolutely unstoppable.

There’s something so special about hearing about the friend groups, the dates, the after-parties, the photo plans… sometimes family or friends come along and we turn the fitting into a full-on hype session. It’s such a joy to be a tiny part of such a big memory.

If your prom look needs a little nip, tuck, hem, or glow-up moment — I’ve got you. Let’s make sure you walk in feeling confident, comfortable, and completely yourself.

I’ve started adding new classes and summer camps to the schedule at Stitch Cleveland!

I’m truly inspired by all the protest and activist quilts I’m seeing on the socials lately (especially because I had to miss QuiltCon this year) and am planning to bring you some workshops and classes centered around storytelling through textiles — bold blocks, meaningful messages, collaborative pieces, and quilts that say something. Whether it’s personal, political, playful, or powerful, I want to create space for makers to use fabric as their voice.

If that sparks something for you, I’d love to hear it.
