Families, we are looking forward to an exciting year!

Attendance in school is a critical component of student success, but family vacation and time with those you love is important as well. In order to help you plan these important times with family and friends, we have listed all three-day weekends, student holidays, extended breaks, and early dismissal days.

We hope our students enjoy these last few days of summer break and look forward to welcoming them on Tuesday, 8/11!

In need of some GJ apparel? Swing by room 4225 at Orientation tomorrow and pick up one of these GJ shirts! They are available in short and long sleeve! Price is $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve. Cash or check is accepted.

Also, don’t forget that Yearbooks will be on sale at Orientation as well! They will be on sale in room 3209. They are at their lowest price of the year during Orientation, so be sure to snag one early!

George Jenkins High welcomed back our amazing teachers today with a full day of events! We kicked things off with a wonderful breakfast provided by our Academic Booster Club, followed by team meetings (and a few fun games!).

From there, our staff headed over to the Magnolia Building for a catered lunch by Nineteen61 and an inspiring talk from former GJHS Principal, David Lauer!

This summer, two of our own GJHS baseball players took their games to a nationwide audience!

Anthony Iatarola (Rising Senior Left-Handed Pitcher / Georgia Tech commit) took the mound at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, NE—the home of the College World Series! Representing Team Florida in the Stinger High School National Championship Series, Anthony's outing was broadcast nationally on ESPNU.

Deniel Gonzalez (Rising Junior Catcher) headed to historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, AL to compete in the prestigious 2026 Hank Aaron Invitational Showcase Game (also known as the "44 Game"), which was televised nationally on MLB Network!

Congratulations to Anthony and Deniel on this amazing opportunity and for representing George Jenkins High School so well!

Never mind the rain, it's time to Focus on Excellence! Our next winner is ... Ivey Thomas from George W. Jenkins High School!

Ivey teaches health science at GJHS.

"I feel honored to be a member of the George Jenkins team, and I truly enjoy my position alongside the incredible colleagues I collaborate with daily," she said. "Our students are remarkable individuals, and it’s inspiring to see their dedication to becoming future healthcare professionals."

This was the sixth year of our Focused on Excellence campaign, which recognizes the hard work and contributions of PCPS employees. Once again, employees were asked to nominate their colleagues from various departments for a chance to receive some great prizes, and be featured on our communication channels.
