A reality in Florida.
Before the scholarships were expanded, where everyone who wants to go to private school gets a scholarship or voucher there were more private school options for students with disabilities.
Now, if public school isn’t an option, many parents choose homeschool to use the scholarship money.
In Florida, the education money follows the student to private, public, charter or home school. If the student does not go to public school the money doesn’t go there at all. In many other states the money still goes to public school even if the student doesnt attend.

A new ProPublica analysis reveals more than half of Florida’s private schools say they don’t serve students with disabilities.
Voucher schools can choose who they serve. Public schools can’t, and—as $5 billion is siphoned from them to fund vouchers—they lose resources to support the students who remain, including students with disabilities.
