If you've purchased any bouquets from me this summer, you know that I love to include sweet peas in them as much as possible! The flowers aren't terribly long lasting but the scent is heavenly.

Once the flowers drop, the tendrils remain and add a romantic touch to any arrangement.

Some varieties are hard to find and the seed can be expensive. So sadly, I have to stop picking them so that I can grow seed for next year. Hopefully by doing this the scent of next year's bouquets will all be intoxicating!

Gardening and farming is a long game. Its consistently looking forward, considering what can be improved upon and what resources will be available when you need them. Its a lot of failure, but also a lot of fun!

I haven't had any apps on my phone for 2 years. Well, two weeks ago I decided to rejoin the dark side. Oh my gosh, the experiment is insane! I can't believe what I wasn't missing!

But here I am, posting like an addicted person.

The main problem is my algorithm! Or is it my own brain? I plan to poke some fun around here, have some hilariousness on this account at times. so if you're all serious, or about that perfect image, you might want to look elsewhere :)

But really, can you guys please help me with my algorithm, or does it require a physciatrist?! :) and I'm completely unsure if I'm kidding or not.

Did you know that you can dry many flowers from the bouquets that you pick or purchase? Even less obvious flowers are so fun dried, like sunflowers, and dahlias. (This dark Larkspur is a really big win, because it holds its color well)

I hate to say it, but fall is creeping up on us! If you save your summer blooms dried, you can plop them in a big trug for a pretty fall arrangement. I've been stocking up. It will be fun to have some bobs to create with once that cozy weather kicks in.

Bonus that they do look so cozy and inspiring hanging up in my kitchen :)

Most flower farmers aren't just throwing in a row of flowers, doing nothing with them, then expecting to make a bunch of money.

For many, it's the other way around. I put a LOT of work into the flowers. Yes, we grow a lot of veggies for our own consumption. But they are an after thought. Not that I don't care how they do, but over the years, I've learned what to plant, and where, so that little to none weeding and watering is required.

So the food is quite hands off, but the flowers take up a LOT of time.

But, I like it that way. It works for us!

One of my favorite things is to seek out the least "trendy" colors, and find a way to creatively make it breathtaking.

It's not the smartest, most logical, most efficient way to think.. but I don't think something like flowers are supposed to only check those boxes.

I think that one of the things that they are supposed to help make us feel, is creatively ALIVE. To know that one of the attributes all humans were created to be, is CREATIVE, is super exciting and fun.

If having a spontaneous bouquet of flowers on your table, in colors that you'd never think to choose for your walls, per say, helps you to feel excited about potential, creating, making your home uniquely YOURS, then I really think that the flowers are doing their job!

Because flowers shouldn't be just for special events. They should also be to remind you that everyday is special, and so are you!

This bright yellow, non-"trendy" snap, is totally inspiring me because it overwintered in my frozen Yooper garden with zero protection. It came from an apricot colored parent, probably reverting back to this color. You bet I'm trying to save it's seeds too. I guess I love me some "unpopular" flowers, bc flowers, like people don't need to be shoved in boxes. Just love them all ❤️
