The purpose of “Dare 2 Be D.E.A.F.” is to encourage students to Dream, Educate, Aim, and Focus. Every student has dreams of their own, but may be unsure of how to reach them. There are many Lake City natives that have successful careers and could serve as excellent resources and role models for helping students reach their goals in addition to the education they are already receiving at Lake City

Thank you to everyone that supported our 3rd DARE To READ book drive! Your support has been invaluable in helping us achieve our goal to promote literacy in our community. With this effort we have donated 125 books to numerous schools in Florence School District 3 and early learning programs in Lake City. This project also features South Carolina native, Auntie Sierra - Children’s Book Author. Yesterday was magnificent as we engaged with students at Panther Academy Lake City to aid in their process of creating a vision board. These students are aware of opportunities ranging from education & careers, to helping their community, to traveling the world. Many thanks to Dramatic Coffee Beans, Inc. and all of our volunteers!
The purpose of “Dare 2 Be D.E.A.F.” is to encourage students to Dream, Educate, Aim, and Focus. Every student has dreams of their own, but may be unsure of how to reach them. There are many Lake City natives that have successful careers and could serve as excellent resources and role models for helping students reach their goals in addition to the education they are already receiving at Lake City High School. Learning about the experiences and successes of Lake City High School alumni will have a positive impact on current students and encourage them to take action towards their goals. For most students, obtaining a high school diploma is only the beginning of their journey to achieve their dreams. Other students may require additional resources and reinforcements to help complete post-secondary education. In some situations, students are encouraged to go to college, but maybe unsure of how to succeed once they arrive on campus. We provide a platform for Lake City High School alumni to relay their personal experiences on how they navigated through life after high school. This helps students relate to those that grew up in a similar environment. Talking to someone that has done what our students are trying to do will dramatically impact the students’ lives and help them put their goals into perspective.
