It’s my favorite time of the year…when agriscience 1 is tackling the FFA Creed! I’ve created a fun way to track their progress as they complete each paragraph, and at the end of the unit, they get actual ice cream sundaes if they complete the creed! 🍦🍨

Need a 10-15 minute activity at the end of class period? Want to get your students up and moving, discussing and debating? I made this super quick, no prep, "Hot Takes" activity that can be implemented in agriscience, ag leadership and veterinary science.

I post a sign that says DISAGREE on one side of the room, and AGREE on the other. I read the hot take, and have them choose a side. I have popsicle sticks with every kids' name on it and choose two to defend their stance each round.

I am incredibly humbled and grateful to have received this honor. I did not get here alone; I want to thank my family for always supporting me, my wonderful mentors, ag teacher besties, and state association for the guidance and support, the Grand Lake community for always showing up for our agricultural program and FFA chapter, and of course, my kids. I would not be half the teacher I am today without their willingness to struggle, take steps out of their comfort zone, learn, grow and work toward their goals. They inspire me every day.

I’ve participated in the Adopt-a-Cow program and my kids absolutely LOVED it. Especially considering we don’t see a whole lot of dairy cows here in Louisiana. It was fun and interactive and we got updates on our calf throughout the school year!

I teach at Grand Lake High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana and I'm proudly serving as a National FFA Teacher Ambassador. I'm incredibly passionate about helping fellow ag teachers thrive, whether you're a first-year teacher or a seasoned veteran.
