Y’all like, share, and follow Bauhaus Salon + Spa! They’re awesome supporters of the mental health community right here.
Today’s Community Spotlight shines on Jerrie Abshire, a dedicated volunteer leader with NAMI Southwest Louisiana since 2018.
Jerrie is a trained instructor for the NAMI Family-to-Family course — a free, 8-week educational program designed for adults (18+) who have a loved one living with a mental health condition. Through this program, participants learn problem-solving strategies, communication skills, advocacy tools, and receive up-to-date information about mental health, all while finding connection and support among peers who truly understand.
The course is:
• Free for participants
• Designed for family members and friends
• Taught by trained instructors with lived experience
• Filled with presentations, interactive exercises, and group discussions
Beyond the classroom, Jerrie also represents NAMI SWLA at community events, festivals, and local outreach activities — bringing resources, hope, and education to families who need it most.
We’re honored to highlight the impact she’s making right here in Southwest Louisiana.
Thank you, Jerrie, for your service, compassion, and commitment to mental health advocacy.
