North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP) wears a variety of hats as we walk alongside the public school district of North Chicago. NCCP functions with the realization that public education in under-resourced communities, like North Chicago, truly cannot operate without external supports. Through our ‘community school model,’ we wrap-around our district, our faculty and staff, our students and famil

ies and our physical spaces to bring needed services and supports into our schools and to make education the center of our community. NCCP was founded in 2008 by the Gorter Family Foundation in direct response to the lack of outside support for the academic challenges facing the children of North Chicago. Ultimately, NCCP is determined to move the needle on education in North Chicago to provide greater opportunities for our children and future leaders.

to the final days of Summer Fun Camp! ☀️ In July, students went bowling for the last lesson of Sports of All Sorts, before watching a movie and enjoying a delicious snack courtesy of AbbVie. Then, students celebrated the last day of camp at their very own Summer Carnival, complete with snow cones, games, and tons of smiles!

It's officially back-to-school for North Chicago students! NCCP distributed Homework Supply Kits to every student who attended a school Meet & Greet last week, including 110+ kits at Forrestal Elementary alone! All thanks to AbbVie and AbbVie volunteers, who made the packs during this summer's Week of Possibilities. Once school begins, students who couldn't make it to the event will receive a Homework Supply Kit too. Thank you, AbbVie, for supporting students!

Last Thursday, District 187 families visited Neal Math & Science Academy to register for and celebrate the new school year! 🎉🎒 We had a blast catching up with everyone and sharing all about this year's After School Enrichment Program. Thank you so much, AbbVie, for making it possible to raffle 10 Kiddles Sports bikes off to families and to distribute nearly 100 Summer Fun kits!

200 Summer Fun and Fit kits were assembled for District 187 students thanks to AbbVie! This year at Summer Fun Camp, students explored a super cool sport: lacrosse! After hearing from an experienced New Trier goalie, students practiced fundamental skills like hand positioning and a proper ball pass. At the end of the lesson, everyone showed off during a rambunctious game of sharks and minnows! 🥍

Thank you to Christ Church IL for donating 357 breakfast items to the Family CARE Closet, our school-based food pantry! These donations are especially helpful during the summer, when families need extra support without school-provided meals.
