We are incredibly honored to support the Hawai‘i America250 Commission in producing the “Sharing the Spirit of America” video!

This inspiring initiative commemorates the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776. 250 years later, on July 8, 2026, at 12 PM HST, Americans across all 50 states, 5 territories, DC, 3 outlying islands, and all 7 continents will read the Declaration simultaneously. Though separated by 19 time zones, we will all be joined together in time.

A huge mahalo to Governor Green for the special message and recognition of this project!

This video wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible talent of our students. A special shoutout to digital design students Quincee Yadao, Sophia Tadena, and Marlee Badua, alongside film and media student Yzabelle Menor, for their hard work and dedication in bringing this vision to life.

Stay tuned as this video is shared globally as part of this historic celebration!

Day 4 of Summer Bridge Session 2, Our Sabers explored their creative and cultural sides today with a visit to the Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center. The trip focused on the Freshman Academy’s name: the ʻĀhinahina (Haleakalā Silversword).

Students learned how this rare, unique plant, which is native to Haleakalā and features striking silver, sword-like leaves, serves as a fitting symbol for both our Saber mascot and our island home. They also explored nā akua (the gods) and their deep connection to and influence on our local environment.

Bringing these lessons to life, our students created beautiful, custom ʻāhinahina block prints on watercolor canvases and learned the traditional art of crafting their own ti leaf lei. A huge mahalo to the Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center for providing such an enriching, educational, and cultural experience for our incoming freshman class.

Day 3 of Summer Bridge Session 2, our freshmen spent their day getting hands-on in the kitchen for a Culinary Pathway experience highlighting the Sustainability Academy! Working in teams, students took on specific kitchen roles to execute today’s menu: Disneyland-style grilled cheese, tomato soup, and fresh chocolate chip cookies.

A special mahalo to our culinary teacher Mr. Scott Tresidder, along with the students, interns, and alumni who made this day possible! Your guidance truly brought teamwork and creativity to life.

Up next, the freshmen are heading out on a field trip to the Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center for another incredible day of hands-on learning and exploration!

Day 2 of Session 2 for Summer Bridge was packed with hands-on learning. Students kicked off the day by touring the campus, meeting our Athletic Director, Ms. Leolani Corpuz, and diving straight into our Service Academy’s Health Services pathway. Check our school website’s Athletics Tab for more info!

A special mahalo to Mālama I Ke Ola, our on-campus school-based health clinic, for introducing students to anatomy using interactive puzzles and our brand-new digital Anatomage tables. Intake forms went home today for their convenient on-campus health services, which include DOE sports physicals.

We also honored Maui High alumna Patsy Mink (Class of ‘44), the first Asian American woman in Congress and co-author of Title IX. Her legacy lives on right here at our Patsy Mink Softball Field!

Summer Bridge Session 2 kicked off at Maui High as we welcomed another group of incoming freshmen to campus!
Students built connections through Student Government–led icebreakers and participated in campus tours to become more familiar with school life.

They were also introduced to the Saber Legacy, highlighting the achievements of notable alumni to inspire pride and a commitment to excellence!

In the Design Academy, students partnered with the Department of Transportation for a hands-on balsa wood Bridge Builder activity, applying teamwork and problem-solving skills to design the most efficient bridge as they begin an exciting week of learning!
