First seeds of the season! 750 little seeds tucked in to seed blocks. Trialing three different onion varieties this year: Red Carpet, Calibrate and Patterson.

Indoor mushroom cultivation! I got Bren a shiitake mushroom kit from for Christmas. So far it’s produced 1.75lbs of mushrooms in just the first week with loads more coming on. They are so fun!!

Whew! Two solid days converting old raised beds into jeavons/bio intensive-style double dug beds. Then managed to get our garlic in before the first freeze this week! 1) nope, we didn’t kill and bury someone in our backyard. This is what decompacted soil looks like. 2) All raked, stringed and dibbled. Ready for garlic! 3) “Hopper” planting out 100 garlic cloves. 4) Sq**rt separating cloves from this year’s garlic to be planted. We have roughly doubled our yield each year.

Yay June! 1. The strawberries are coming in heavy this year 2. Garlic scape harvest! 3. A gorgeous (huge!) bumblebee that was loving our comfrey today.

Batten down the hatches! Trying to protect annual gardens at school and at home from a freak spring snowstorm only a week after we planted everytjing out! 🤞🙏

We are getting into this now… 🥰
Little One is stoked to get in there for our next inspection! I’ll have to make her a veil.
