Congratulations to our Trailblazer and Carencro High Bear Ja'Leigh R. on her achievements at the Louisiana Department of Education Aspiring Educator Academy! Ja'Leigh spent a week at LSU's College of Human Sciences and Education where she learned about intentional teaching and how important it is to build relationships with students. For her field experience, Ja'Leigh was placed at the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool (ECELP) where she worked with rising Kindergarteners during their last week of PreK. Ja'Leigh had the opportunity to connect with many aspiring educators, professors, and teachers from all over Louisiana. She was also honored to be nominated for the best portfolio at the Academy! Way to go, Ja'Leigh! Your Carencro High and WDMBS Career Center families are so proud of you!

🛡️ Safety Starts Before the First Bell 🛡️
As we prepare to welcome students back, LPSS is implementing a few important safety updates to help create a secure learning environment for everyone.
Please review these reminders before the first day of school:
• School entry screening settings have been updated to align with national school safety standards.
• Students should limit unnecessary items in their backpacks each day to help speed up the entry process.
• Please replace metal lunch boxes and metal pencil cases or pouches with non-metal alternatives.
• Hard eyeglass cases and collapsible umbrellas may also slow the screening process. When possible, consider alternative options or be prepared for a secondary search by school personal.
For after-school activities and campus events, weapon detection systems and our clear bag procedures will continue to be in place to help keep students, staff, and visitors safe.
