The ground breaking ceremony was held September 22, 2016
for the construction of the new Midland Elementary School in Lacon.
The ceremony began with opening remarks from Midland School Superintendent Bill Wrenn, and School Board Member Jason Matuszak, and Regional School Superintendent Chris Dvorak.
A student, randomly selected from each class, was the first group
to take a shovel and dig the first bit of dirt. The Midland School Board then took a turn turning over some soil. The Steering Committee that has been working with the school board on the design of the new school was invited to take a shovel and turn over some soil.
Then to our surprise, "For the Kids" Committee Members were invited to come forward as a group and dig a shovel full of soil, as seen in this photo. What a an honor and privilege it was for us to be a part of this ground breaking event.
Thanks to everyone in the Midland School District for making this day possible for our kids, our school district, and our communities.
