11 Days to an Incredible Year!
There is a fresh energy in the air as our staff prepares to help every student Rise, Soar, and stand Ready; we hope that same anticipation is growing at your dinner table as we count down to an incredible school year! As I walk through our halls this week and watch our classrooms come together, I can’t help but feel genuinely excited for the year ahead. There is something special about the quiet before school begins, the fresh bulletin boards, and the anticipation of all the growth and "aha" moments waiting to happen.
📅 Upcoming Dates: The Launch of 2026-27
In just a little over a week, our halls will be full of students again! Please note our staggered start dates and upcoming events:
August 13th: K-12 Open House (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM). Come meet our teachers, tour the school, and learn about our programs.
August 17th: First Day of School for Grades 6–12 (7:45 AM Start).
August 17th: K-5 Meet the Teacher (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM).
August 19th: First Day of School for Grades K–5 (7:45 AM Start).
Note: Our school day begins at 7:45 AM, and all students are provided with breakfast and lunch during the day.
🎨 Community Contest: "Bring Rowdie to Life"
We are looking for your creativity to help tie our C.L.A.W.S. framework together! We are inviting students, families, alumni, and local community members to submit their own original designs for our new digital mascot.
The Prize: A $500 cash prize awaits the winning design!
The Rules: Submissions must be original artwork and cannot be created with AI . The district will retain the rights to the winning design.
The Goal: We want imagery to match our specific expectations throughout the building. For example, in the cafeteria, we will pair the chosen Rowdie with our "Community" value: Clean up your spot! Pick up all trash, wipe your table, and leave it clean for the next group.
Deadline: All submissions are due by September 1st. Full contest details and submission links are available on our website or Facebook.
💻 Website & Handbook Updates
Our school website has undergone major updates! Visit www.lvk12.org to find new sections for Enrollment, Athletics, Nutrition Services, and Student Services. Our updated Student-Family Handbook will also be shared there shortly after publication.
📋 School Supply List
When you pay the $100 Student Fee, the school will take care of all daily school supplies!
Suggested items for students to bring:
Water bottle.
Gym shoes (non-marking soles).
Reminder: Backpacks are not used during the school day; students in grades 6–12 will be provided with lockers.
A Final Note on our Vision
My hope for this year is simple: that every student feels seen, supported, and proud to be a Redhawk. We are committed to our motto: We Rise, We Soar, and We are Ready!
Thank you for trusting us with your students. I can’t wait to welcome them back through our doors!
With Pride & Poise,
Erica Switzer
