At BTG, one of the most rewarding parts of this journey is watching our students grow beyond the admissions process and step confidently into the next chapter of their lives. 🎓✨ These beautiful ladies and former , and graduated from SDSU this weekend, and I couldn’t be more proud!

Many of our former clients who once came to us for guidance on applications, essays, interviews, and finding their “why” are now officially college graduates entering careers, graduate programs, service opportunities, and new adventures.

Seeing students transform from nervous high school seniors into confident young professionals reminds us why we do this work every single day.

To our BTG alumni: congratulations on this incredible milestone. Your story is just getting started, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish next. 💙

Your college essay should do more than list what you like—it should explain why those interests matter to you. Admissions officers want to understand the story behind your passions. What sparked your interest in biology, engineering, business, art, or helping others? What experiences shaped that curiosity?

Even more important: show how your why turned into action. Did your love for science lead you to seek research opportunities? Did your passion for helping others inspire volunteer work? Did your interest in business motivate you to start a project or join leadership programs?

Strong applicants connect passion + purpose + action.

At BTG, we help students uncover their authentic story and build applications that show depth, direction, and impact. Your “why” can be the key that makes your application stand out.

Now that undergraduate admissions decisions are in, it’s time to shift from waiting to winning your next steps 🎓✨

✔️ Finish strong — Your final grades still matter. Colleges review final transcripts, so keep that momentum going.

✔️ Explore your options — Take time to revisit the colleges you were admitted to. Compare programs, campus life, financial aid, and where you truly see yourself thriving.

✔️ Lock in your spot — Be sure to submit your enrollment and housing deposits by each school’s deadline. Missing these can cost you your place! is May 1st.

✔️ Prep for AP exams — These tests aren’t just another hurdle—they’re an opportunity. Earning strong scores can translate into college credit, saving you both time and money once you’re on campus.

This is an exciting transition—make thoughtful decisions, stay focused, and set yourself up for success in this next chapter. You’ve worked hard to get here… now finish even stronger!

🏅 Want to Play Sports in College? Start the Recruiting Process Early.

Many student-athletes wait too long to begin recruiting. The reality: recruiting often starts before you’re ready to commit.

Here are a few key tips if playing college sports is your goal:

📧 Start emailing coaches early
Reach out while you’re a varsity athlete. Introduce yourself, share your stats, GPA, Grad year, and highlight video if you have one.

🔁 Follow up if you don’t hear back
Coaches are busy. If you don’t get a response, send a follow-up email about a week later—your first message may have been missed.

🏃 Play outside of your school team.
Join club teams or travel teams. They give you more exposure and more chances to compete.

📬 Contact coaches directly
Don’t rely on recruiting databases. Emailing the coach yourself is much more effective.

📱 Social media can help—but email is best
You can connect with coaches through social media, but email is still the primary way coaches communicate with recruits.

🏕️ About camps
You can’t buy recruiting by attending camps. Instead, use camps to:
• Experience what a program is like
• See the difference between small vs. large schools
• Understand private vs. public vs. Ivy League environments

🎓 Recruiting is about building relationships, showing initiative, and finding the right fit—not just getting noticed.

Knowing ball isn’t just for sports—it’s for academia too. 🧠🔬

As an undergraduate student, diving into research completely changed the way I saw science and problem-solving. It’s one thing to learn concepts in a classroom, but it’s another to ask real questions, test ideas, deal with failure, and push toward new knowledge. That’s where growth really happens.

Brought on as an unpaid intern and then hired as a research assistant, I had the opportunity to present our research at a and was later alongside my and colleagues in the Journal of Mental Health Research in Intellectual Disabilities.

Research isn’t just a résumé line—it’s training for the future. It builds the curiosity, discipline, and resilience needed for postgraduate and graduate school.

If you’re in high school or an undergrad considering research, take the leap. Ask questions. Email professors. Get involved.

All 10th through 12th grade BTG students are encouraged and supported through lab placements.
